Tap at Eureka burger. Rating #7. Very dark reddish/ black, just a hint of light was coming through showing some dark ruby red color, very nice, the head was pretty thick at first then fading quickly with some light lacing. Big bitter chocolate roast up front that led to a bit of coffee in the finish and leaving a bitter aftertaste. Aroma was light, faint chocolate and just a hint of the anise. Pretty good brew. (1731)

Draft. Clear dark brown/light black pour, thin light tan head. Cheap grains, light malt, caramel, and some roast. Very boring.

Served on tap at the San Diego Brewers Guild Festival 2010.The appearance is a light brown black hue. The aromas are a little plain with some cereal and light malts. The flavors a medium roasted malts, light amounts of licorice and some hard caramel candies. The mouth is medium bodied. Nothing too exciting.

Pours black with a large tan head that leaves good lace. Smells of dark roasted malts, lightly sweet, lightly sour. Tastes mostly of roasted malts with some light, fruity sweetness and a large dose of watery, dishwater flavor on the finish. Eh. Mediumish body, good carbonation.

Appearance: Pours a dark rootbeer brown with beautiful cascading tan head. Aroma: Light roast. Taste: Licorice and burnt roast. Mouthfeel: Thin with moderate carb. Overall: Did nothing for me. Needed more of everything.
