2008 san diego beer fest - poured a purple colored muddy mess with no head. That being said, it was rather inviting because I love me a muddy mess. Nose has a deep malty background with firm blackberry notes and a little sweet cake and frosting hints. Thick mouth and pretty damn malty yet bursting with berries and a nice sufficient sourness..the malt and berry interplay was outstanding here and the sourness was quite nice...not funky yet not fake.

SDFOB-2008. Draft. I’m new to sours. Very sour berry flavors but not puckary tart. How do you tell if a sour has gone bad? Does it turn sweet? Don’t know if sours are my thing yet.

On tap at Liars Club.. Brown with a few tan bubbles. sour fruity head, black current, berry and balsamic vinegar. Nicely sour flavor, but mild in the cassis. good tart finish

On tap at Liars Club. Garnet brown with no head. red wine vinegar aroma. Sour lemon and mild currant taste.

Draft at Liar’s, Alpine. It finally looks like the boys at Strauss are putting out some nice brews. I believe this had a barrel aged tag in the title. This did lend a nice oaky aspect to the already tasty blend of dark berries and sticky tartness. I like it...

On tap at Liar’s Club in Alpine, CA. Relatively still with little carbonation and an opaque mahogany color with no head. The nose is a sweet blend of black currants, molasses, smoke and juniper berries with a slightly tart character. The flavors are raisin, brown sugar and caramel followed up by a medium funky sourness and a slightly acidic finish.
