COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mission Beach, the late 1980s. Amid a sea of neon bikinis, Tower 10 marked the spot where two college grads and a 75 year-old master brewer drew up plans for the first local craft brewery in San Diego since Prohibition. Named in honor of our first good idea, Tower 10 IPA is brewed to inspire the next one.

Tower 10 IPA boasts hops from beginning to end, and everywhere in between. We fill the brew kettle to the brim with assertive Chinook hops, giving the beer its intense grapefruit and pine flavors that linger through its dry finish. After fermentation, we dry hop with a blend of Cascade and Centennial hops for a floral citrus aroma. A touch of lightly kilned caramel malts make Tower 10 a well balanced, full flavor IPA.

Amber pour with a thick, sticky white head. The nose is fairly tropical with a distinct mix of caramelly malt and some light orange peel as well. Pretty fresh and hoppy with a distinct kiss of iced tea. There is a little bit of sweetness and some light hoppy bitterness. Nice dry-hopped character on the back… by the numbers but still pretty good.

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2010 Sample at the Universal City location. This brew is a clear orange color with a medium foamy off-white head that dissipates steadily. Sticky patches of lacing on the glass. Citrusy hops and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of hops, tart citrus and malt. The finish is hoppy with a lingering bitterness left behind. Decent IPA overall.

Bomber. Pours a deep amber/orange with a sudsy head and aromas of citrus hops and tropical fruit. Flavor is mediocre: soapy hops with citrus and tropical fruit.

On tap in La Jolla. Copper pour. White head. Aroma is hoppy, lots of hops! Citrus, spicy, resin. Flavor has a really nice fresh hop bite, moslty resin and some citrus. Light malt balance. I enjoyed this quite a bit.

Draft at brewpub. Light golden amber pour, white head. Nice hoppy citrus aroma. Flavor is more mutted and not as interesting, some grainy malt, citrus and hops.

Pours a rich copper color. Aroma of fruit and pine. Taste of hoppy bitterness with a touch of fruityness. A dry finish and aftertaste. Overall a good IPA, with a crisp ending.

Clear golden with a medium off white head. Hoppy nose with grapefruit, pine and pale malt. Flavour had grapefruits, plenty of hops, pine and pale malts and it came out bone dry and bitter. Solid IPA.

Sampled on 7/12/2010. This India Pale Ale pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with nice lacing and good retention. The aroma is biscuty malts and grapefruity hops. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are caramel, bready and sweet. The hops are grapefruity and citrusy. Nice balance. A malty IPA, yet there is a nice citrusy hop bite. Good carbonation. Nice dry finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean, dry and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Pours a transparent medium orange. More hops than other California IPAs - this is more refreshing than others I’ve had. Really good. Citrus and caramel dominate, with some good balance.
