COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mission Beach, the late 1980s. Amid a sea of neon bikinis, Tower 10 marked the spot where two college grads and a 75 year-old master brewer drew up plans for the first local craft brewery in San Diego since Prohibition. Named in honor of our first good idea, Tower 10 IPA is brewed to inspire the next one.

Tower 10 IPA boasts hops from beginning to end, and everywhere in between. We fill the brew kettle to the brim with assertive Chinook hops, giving the beer its intense grapefruit and pine flavors that linger through its dry finish. After fermentation, we dry hop with a blend of Cascade and Centennial hops for a floral citrus aroma. A touch of lightly kilned caramel malts make Tower 10 a well balanced, full flavor IPA.

11 feb 2012, tap. Light yellow, clear, some bubbles. Grapefruit ring and melon. Bitter but mellow. Thin body, lightly fuzzy and a tad oily. Very astringent, bitter, resiny hops. No malt, just hops. A decent west coast IPA ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Great american IPA. Gives you that fresh hop aftertaste. Slight grapefruit citrus taste.

Pours hazy orange with a short head. Cereal and floral nose. Bitter flavor. Medium body, astringent finish. No sweetness and missing complexity and balance. Decent IPA but nothing special.

A solid IPA, but lots of issues. The malt is very weak in both flavor, color and texture. It tastes like they were trying to be really cheap with the hops. Overly bitter, very light on hop aroma or flavor. I guess they are trying to do the opposite of the SoCal hop-bomb? KS gets old school credit, but when he is playing with Pizza Port and Stone, he gets left behind.

I was initially bummed out by the beer.. Iím quite the hop-head and despite the 60 IBUs this beer has, the first sip on the tongue has very little bite to it. It starts off super malty, however sticking to its IPA name, its got a dry, bitter after-taste that lingers for some time. Extremely drinakable beer and great for those times when you want a beer with some bite but donít want a right-off-the-bat palate destroyer.

Pretty good IPA. Iím here for San Diego Beer Week and just had their special Heavy Pettie Double IPA which, according to claims is more bitter, but seems less. This beer was served in a pint shaker with a decent, fine, foamy, off white head that soon settled down and a lots of fine lace. Color is a clear amber. Aroma is hop, malt, resin, a little barn. caramel. Flavorís much the same with more impact. Balance is heavy in favor of bitter, quite dry, and some good carbonic tang. Body & carbonation are good. Finish is like flavor and has long legs. If you get a chance go for the Heavy Pettie. Thisíll do instead if ye caint.

This is very tasty stuff.. Very Drinkable, The 6.5% does a very good job at hiding itself in the taste. Quenched my thirst and also sells for an appropriate price.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2011 Drank out of a bottle. Color was gold. Couldnít see head, film or lacing. Smell was pine and citrus hops. Slightly bitter sniff. Citrus was the initial taste. Fairly smooth with a bitter finish. Medium body. Lively carbonation. Pretty smooth. Not a bad beer. I wish I could have enjoyed it more, but Iíll give it another try for sure.

Hazy amber with a thin head. Woody, earthy, chewy malts on the nose. Earthy and woody hoppiness on the tongue, with crystal malt. OK balance and a classic California IPA style.
