COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mission Beach, the late 1980s. Amid a sea of neon bikinis, Tower 10 marked the spot where two college grads and a 75 year-old master brewer drew up plans for the first local craft brewery in San Diego since Prohibition. Named in honor of our first good idea, Tower 10 IPA is brewed to inspire the next one.

Tower 10 IPA boasts hops from beginning to end, and everywhere in between. We fill the brew kettle to the brim with assertive Chinook hops, giving the beer its intense grapefruit and pine flavors that linger through its dry finish. After fermentation, we dry hop with a blend of Cascade and Centennial hops for a floral citrus aroma. A touch of lightly kilned caramel malts make Tower 10 a well balanced, full flavor IPA.

On tap @ airport in San Diego. Pours dark golden with thick head. Aroma is strong pine hops. Taste is big, bitter piney hops. Solid caramel malt body. Once the bitterness fades there are some nice faint floral and citrus hop flavors. Overall a little out of balance. The Tower 20 DIPA is not nearly as bitter and actually more balanced.

Alluring aroma with golden colour. Is be an excellent example of the Southern California take on the hop forward American IPA.

Bottle in the hotel. Pours clear orange with a large, frothy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is pine, citrus, fruity, and herbal hops with tropical fruity esters and pale malt. Flavor is heavy hops, moderate bitterness, tropical fruity esters, light sweet pale malt and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Forte arôme de cannabis, pamplemousse et résine de pin dans un liquide qui semble farouche. Corps bien aéré, longue amertume qui surf sur la resine et une franche sécheresse.

Tantalising pine through to the dry bitterness. Good carbonation gives it a rich white head and cloudy body gives away a positive signal as an IPA. You would not like any munch to go with this beer, there is much flavour and aroma to savour in itself. Good crafty craft beer which I certainly like to share with good friends over a lengthy chat.

Pungent hoppy aroma gives one a feeling of fear and excitement. Flavor of hops, lime, grapefruit. Has the aftertaste of eating the gross white part of an orange. Not nice. My guess is it comes from a hop variety that I’m not loving. I give cred for what they tried to do, but it doesn’t do it for me

On tap at their place in San Diego. Pours a slightly hazy yellow with a thin white head. Aroma is grapefruit and not much else. Flavor follows with good bitterness. Finishes clean and dry. Decent beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A similar colour to its Pintail brother: orange amber with a similarly puffy white head. Just a hint of haze and not a great deal of carbonation to be observed. The hopping is slightly more amber gum rather than the resinous herbal notes of the Pintail. There’s a few prickles of carbonation there and then stonefruit and gentle grapefruit come out. Bitterness starts of soft and ripe and then gathers pace becoming pronounced and definite. There’s yellow grapefruit and sweetish Meyer lemon coming in a lengthy finish. This masks its abv rather well, suggesting that this beer could be a real danger to me achieving anything else this afternoon.

On tap at the San Diego downtown brewpub. It poured a hazy orange color with a white head. The aroma was of sweet malts and some citrus. The taste was of sweet malts, hop bitterness and citrus. Nice.

Aroma: light floral hops, light grain, light resin. Appearance: clear gold, small, white head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: initial bitters continue, dry citrus hops coming up. Overall: OK IPA, nothing extraordinary though. Pint at Karl Strauss Brewing, San Diego.
