COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mission Beach, the late 1980s. Amid a sea of neon bikinis, Tower 10 marked the spot where two college grads and a 75 year-old master brewer drew up plans for the first local craft brewery in San Diego since Prohibition. Named in honor of our first good idea, Tower 10 IPA is brewed to inspire the next one.

Tower 10 IPA boasts hops from beginning to end, and everywhere in between. We fill the brew kettle to the brim with assertive Chinook hops, giving the beer its intense grapefruit and pine flavors that linger through its dry finish. After fermentation, we dry hop with a blend of Cascade and Centennial hops for a floral citrus aroma. A touch of lightly kilned caramel malts make Tower 10 a well balanced, full flavor IPA.

Good standard IPA, not too big on hops but ok, as it would distract from mellow malts. Defiantly bitter, hoppy very nice example of a west coast IPA.

35,5 cl bottle @ Sankt Hans Tasting, Ulfborg Aroma has tropical fruits and some sweetish fruit juice. Flavour has strong grapefruity tones, tropical fruits and some mild alcohol tones. I like the aggressive hops here. Delicious.

355 ml bottle from Bier-Deluxe

Bottled January 2015 :( - Pours yellowish orange with a smooth head. Aroma of grassy hops, grapefruit, citrus, lemon, herbal and fruity notes. Taste is crisp, hoppy and resinous with some grass, grapefruit, citrus and lemon. Finish is sweetish, piney and resinous with loads of citrus, grapefruit and lemon. Pretty generic but balanced and surprisingly tasty despite the bottle is not very fresh.

Bottle. Filtered orange-to-yellow body with white soapy head. Nose is citrus, piney, resin. Taste is American hops all the way, resin, citrus. Nice American IPA with good dry-hopping.

12oz bottle via sample from the brewer. Pours a clear light copper color with a 2 finger thick off white head that left great lacing. Nice nose of citrus, pine and some caramel malts. Flavor was initially a bit malty, then the hop bitterness comes through and rounds out a nicely crafted IPA, blows the old Star Gazer out of the water!

UPDATED: JUN 15, 2009 Appearance: Pours a copper red with a dense, sudsy 1/2 inch white head. The body is rather clear, and has a modest level of visable carbonation. The beer leaves webby lacy rings all the way down the pint glass. Aroma: Grapefruit rind, pine (pine needles and pine sap), a small, almost hidden level of bready malt, and sugary sweetness. Comes across very perfumy and floral, rather than citrusy. Taste: A nice mouthful of bitter and citrusy hops in the beginning, and a finish of bready and caramel layer of malt. The bitter hops linger on my tongue well past the sip. Mouthfeel: Thick, heavy. Overall: A solid, full flavored, balanced IPA, showcasing some of the great qualities of a West Coast IPA, without going extreme. This beer has lots of body, lots of hops, and the right amount of malt. This is the best Karl Strauss beer in their lineup.

Bottle; poured a caramel-amber color with a small off white head. Aroma of caramel, earth, citrus and fruit. Very nw-hoppy in the nose. Flavor was surprisingly balanced and good. Earthy and fruity balanced by a solid caramel malt backbone. Nice lingering finish. A surprise.

On tap at Karl Strauss Carlsbad. Yellow amber color. Medium-low hop bitterness and aroma. Very easy to drink. Apricot hop flavor. Very good.
