UPDATED: NOV 14, 2015 Enticing citrus pine aroma in a hazy golden pour. Taste is surprisingly laid back = superb for the strength. Perfect hop forward balance with a full sweet malt body and a sustained clean bitter finish. A great example of the style (DIPA).

Intense and bitter, this beer is very hoppy and piney. The finish is more malty than I like, but overall it’s a decent Imperial IPA

Shot glass showing golden amber. The nose shows clean, punchy pine notes with subtle tropical fruit notes underneath. The palate is moderately carbonated and medium bodied. Very fruit forward but perfectly balanced by the sweet malts and a light pilsner-like bitterness on the finish.

650 ml bottle courtesy of freddy. Pours an amber-yellow color with a big off-white head. Very potent nose with lots of citrus, especially oranges and tangerines. The flavor is that of a hoppy-citrusy IPA with grapefruit, oranges and papaya set in a caramel malt base that is rich in toffee. The palate is full and smooth with lively carbonation. Finishes medium in duration and dry. Overall: Very tasty brew, me like.

Poured from a 22-oz. bomber into a pint glass. About two fingers of head. Color was caramel honey toffee. Brownish white lacing with some bubbles on the top. Wet, uneven and sporadic film on the sides. Smelled lemon citrus hops up front. Also some lime piny notes in there. Sweet floral notes. Fairly malty, but still refreshing on the nose. Very balanced taste, could hardly taste the alcohol. Lemon citrus hops really came through here. The maltiness seemed to balance the citrus hops out. So smooth. Medium body. Average carbonation. Slight bitter, but smooth finish. Refreshing feeling. Really liked this beer as I do with most of the ones from Karl Strauss. Smoot h and very drinkable.

Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are rich bitter hops, flowers, citrus, pine, peach and malt. Lovely bitter finish.

Bottle: Another strong, potent, over the top DIPA: it’s getting boring. It just may be time to explore other beer styles. Food Pairing: Strong cheese.

22 oz bottle from the local Albertson’s here in SD. Pours cloudy orange with a creamy head. Aroma is floral hops and belgian yeast. Taste is big grapefruit and floral hops, with a slightly sweet and syrupy mouthfeel. Nice nutty malt body brings the ABV up to balance. Finishes bitter but not pucker-worthy. Not spectacular, especially considering the local competition in this category, but a solid IIPA.

65 cl bottle.
Pours hazy golden color with a large white head. Hops and tropical fruits on the nose, orange peel, some pine needles and lots of caramel malts. Sweetish orange, mango, some apricot, caramel malts and resinous hops. Full-bodied, bitter fruity palate, lingering sweetish caramel finish. Nice balance and alcohol is well hidden. On a side note, goes well with spicy food.
