Bottle brought from CA by my neighbor. When it was too cold, it was really unpleasant, but as it warmed the orange/citrus came through better. Hoppy but not over the top and doesn’t rise above the other Imperial IPAs I’ve had lately. Bottle.

Picked up a corny keg for my kegirator. Pours a cloudy straw, small head and lively bubbles. Aroma is weak for a DIPA. Flavor isn’t overly hoppy, big maltiness. Notes of mild citrus and some floral. I didn’t realize it was 9.5 ABV until now, is it is well hidden. Easy to drink. Not what I would call a true DIPA, except for the ABV. I wanted this to be big, bold and hopped out.

Bottle at the brewery, 4S Ranch. Pours clear orange with a medium, frothy off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is citrus, pine, and resin hops with honey and biscuit malt. Flavor is moderate hops and bitterness, light sweet malt and fruity esters with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

From a bottle at the brewpub in RB, shared by BeerandBlues2. Pours clear orange gold with a frothy off-white head. Tastes like moderate hops, bitterness, sweet malt, and hints of fruit. Dry finish. Medium body and carbonation. Smells like citrus and pine hops, hop resin, a hint of honey, and biscuit malt.

DylansDad (419) - North Shore, Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - APR 14, 2015
Muted aroma of sweet malt, pine, grapefruit and green apple skin. As it warms the malt takes on a slight breadiness. Taste is short and sharp with what I would call a medium level of bitterness for a IIPA. The flavours themselves are actually very tasty but they aren’t allowed to develop, the fun police shut them down, pronto. Maybe it’s the 9.5% ABV acting like a noise gate?

brokensail (12519) - Orange County, California, USA - MAY 11, 2012
Pours amber in color with a finger of off-white head. Kind of past its prime, it seems. Sweet caramel and toffee malt with some bready malt. Floral hops and a bit of citrus, but not all that hoppy. A little bit herbal and piney with some floral notes. Sweet toffee and bread, but overall just kind of meh.

AmEricanbrew (6282) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - AUG 20, 2012
Clear amber color with ivory head. Tea leaf, caramel, grapefruit aromas. medium body with average co2. Nicely bitter pine, tea leaf hoppy flavors with a caramel base brew-mildly boozy spicy finish--almost good

Bomber poured a hazy golden amber with a lasting creamy ivory head. Aromas of biscuit, earthiness, lemon zest, grapefruit and light pine. Palate was medium bodied and smooith. Flavors of biscuit, grapefruit, orange and light earthiness with a smooth moderatly bitter lingering grapefruit finish.
