COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It was 2011 when we first released Two Tortugas Belgian Quad as our holiday ale. It was supposed to be a one-time release for the holidays, but your feedback demanded otherwise. Six batches and numerous medals later, our Belgian Quad is back in all its original glory. Two Tortugas has aromas of dark fruit and caramel, with a slight hint of bubblegum from the Belgian Abbey yeast. This beer is robust and full-bodied with rich malty flavors of toffee, plums, and dates. Drink it now or lay it down – Two Tortugas’ journey is just getting started.

Draft. Pours amber with an off white head. Fruity yeasty and mild spicy yeasty base, a little bit of floral and earthy bitterness, and not a ton of residual sweetness. Solid; very drinkable.

"a surprisingly excellent holiday ale. not that KS isn’t decent, but i had my odubts about a quad. on one hand, those doubts are legit. this in no way is like the traditional belgian "quads"...rochefort, bernardus...the color falls somewhere between the golden Stoic and darker belgians, and the aroma and flavor are more cinnamon and vanilla than belgian yeastiness, though some dark fruit is present too. the only beer i;ve had like this one is 21st Ammendment Monks Blood (which is pretty dang good) so i have to give this it’s due. not what i expected, but VERY tasty, and hides the abv about as well as any beer i’ve ever had."

On tap @ Uncle Henry’s Deli. Lightly hazed copper pour with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet raisin, plum, and banana. Lots of caramel and brown sugar notes. A bit of chocolate and toasted bread...maybe some booze. Flavor is quite sweet as well. Bit time dark fruit, brown sugar, and caramel. Chocolate syrup, toast, and bananas. Mild yeast, alcohol, and clove spiciness. Not bad.

On tap @ Hamilton’s Tavern during SD Beer Week: Poured into a proper trappist glass as a glowing amber hue with a shade of brown tinting. Created some development of foam on top but quickly thinned out leaving the liquid naked. The aroma is initially fruity with a funky strain of yeast that comes alive as being an authentic Belgian strain while a heavy presence of alcohol is easily found with the nose. The drink is sweet and displays the taste of fruity yeast that was so in the aroma except the fruit becomes more apparent and suggests such natural fruits as banana, dark rich plum, and the taste of a strawberry smoothie that included both the top green stem part and berry. Palate is refined with steady carbonation levels while an aftertaste of sugary malts and candy sugar end this beer on a good note as a good quad.

FROTHINGSLOSH (6197) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 10, 2012
From the 12/2012 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright caramel-orange color with a small foamy tan head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sour caramel, nut, booziness, pepper and faint vague fruits. The flavor was tangy sour caramel, pepper, apple, nut, pear and more booziness. Long pepper, caramel and fruit finish. Moderately full bodied but the booziness distracted. Interesting.

Bomber purchased a year ago at BevMo in Carmel Mountain ($8.99). Pours into tulip a murky reddish amber color with one finger of beige foam that very soon reduces into nothingness. Aroma of sticky figs and prunes, buttered caramel, coconut, and brown sugar. Flavor of rich toffee, dark sticky fruit, nutty bready malts, dark honey, molasses, vanilla, and some spice. Finishes moderately sweet and with a slightly boozy finish (though the high ABV is generally well concealed). Pretty good quad. Will be interested to see how the other bottle I have ages. (34, 752)
