COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It was 2011 when we first released Two Tortugas Belgian Quad as our holiday ale. It was supposed to be a one-time release for the holidays, but your feedback demanded otherwise. Six batches and numerous medals later, our Belgian Quad is back in all its original glory. Two Tortugas has aromas of dark fruit and caramel, with a slight hint of bubblegum from the Belgian Abbey yeast. This beer is robust and full-bodied with rich malty flavors of toffee, plums, and dates. Drink it now or lay it down – Two Tortugas’ journey is just getting started.

On tap at Congregation Ale House. Big malty nose with tobacco, raisins, plum, and light smoke. No hop aroma. Dark coppery amber clear with very thin head. Heavy body with medium carbonation, light alcohol warming. Big sweet start with raisins, biscuit, tobacco, and plum. Sugary sweet with sweet finish. No bitterness. Sweet after but not cloying. Tasty stuff.

I had this on tap at Out of the Park Pizza. It’s a big malty beer that finishes sweetly, with notes of cherry. The big alcohol percentage is well hidden.

A really solid big bodied maltfest. Really liked this brew. A bit of spices but really a powerpack of malts that are awesome!

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2012 Bomber from Plaza Wine and Spirits in Mira Mesa: Chill haze dark caramel amber color with a medium, fading beige head. Aroma is toffee, raisin and prune. Flavor starts rich caramel and dark fruit with hints of dark rum followed a little cinnamon and a hint of clove with a light bitter finish balancing the rich start. Medium-full body is smooth and oily with moderate carbonation.

On tap at Downey brewing it has a dark amber color. Not a strong aroma but what there is its toasted fruits. The taste has caramel and some honey to it, kind of like a candied sugar. In the end there there is more dark fruits. Texture is very rich with a smoothh finish.

Pours a clear ruby color with a thin white head. Aroma bubblegum, vanilla and banana bread. Taste is sweet, fruity, cherry, spicy, herbal and delicious. I’m more impressed than I thought possible coming from Karl Strauss.

Pours a dark orange in color. Really quite sugary sweet but not cloying at all. Seems a little weak for a quad but an interesting take for a Cali Christmas.

Very interesting Belgian style. Smells of cherries, and pours a deep red. Quite sweet taste of cherries and vanilla. But not too overwhelming. Sipping beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
