bikesandbeers (419), San Diego, California, USA Feb 20, 2008 on tap @ Liar’s Club Alpine. amber with strong malt+alchol aroma. Flavor was very sweet and malty and the beer tasted quite strong. if I din’t know the ABV i would have guess 9-10. I’m not sure if thats a complement or a complaint.
badlizard (1430), San Diego, California, USA Mar 8, 2008 from Liars’ Club. Hazy caramel brown with creamy white head. Alcohol and caramel aroma. Thick syrupy palate. Zesty, tangy, citrus taste w/ a spicy finish. riversideAK (1561), Shoreline, Washington, USA Feb 5, 2008 Rating from old notes. Orange red. Very sweet and fruity malt aroma. Flavor is sweet, almost cloying with little hop presence. Some honey and wheat malt peak through as well. Seems to be in the English Style. Full bodied almost syrupy quality. Too sweet for me. The Balboa’s Barleywine is a lot better in my opinion. Definitely thought this one was aged. patrick767 (1396), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Jan 23, 2008 draft - Pours hazy orange with a thin head. Wheat malt, some citrus, and some alcohol comprise the aroma. The flavor is sweet, sweet malt along with some yeast and a little citrus. It has an almost syrupy palate and in my opinion just overdid the sweetness. jeremytoni (551), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Jan 20, 2008 From the tap poured dark amber with a little head. Nice strong flavor with a lasting aftertaste.
