3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the Old Columbia location. Golden yellow with a medium white head. Has a fairly discernable level of hops (18 IBU), but not a burner. Malt content makes this a tasty light lager. Not so pilsner-like to me, but I like it. Way way better than the Endless summer crap they make. This is the refreshing summer beer that you want.

It has a great golen hue, good creamy head with a breath taking aroma of bread or flowers or something. Its lovely and I could smell it forever. Fantastic taste and wonderful for the Summer. Great beer to eat with spicy foods.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draught at Karl Strauss La Jolla. Clear golden color with thin white head. Light noble hop aroma and flavor nicely balanced with a slgithly sweet cereal grain flavor. Crisp and clean, light body. Not a bad beer.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Poured a deep golden color, nose of light spices and malts. Also a very light hop note. A great beer to pound on a warm summer day in San Diego.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
I was hesitant to buy this thinking it was the same beer as summer gold but after looking it up on the data base it has this beer under a Bohemian Pilsner. Color is a solid gold thats immacuate compared to other beers iv’e seen. Has a small patchy head and aroma is a little faint with traces of grain and straw in it. Flavor is rather bland and dull but then again what BP doesn’t fall under that catefory. Easily consumed in big quaffs so you know this is a brew for a hot day.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On draft at Karl Strauss: Beer pours attractive gold color with a well retained egg white head. Aroma exhibits excellent use of Saaz hops, very Czech, German pils aroma. Flavor is grainy and hoppy. A good pils.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: AUG 3, 2008 Upon visiting the Karl Strauss resturant and brewery in Carlsbad we enjoyed some of their beers. This was an excellent golden pilsner with some hopiness and a crisp finish. You could drink this beer all day. It was not complex but a very drinkable brew. I had another in San Diego at the Redfields bar at the Manchester Hyatt Hotel. It is avery good all around Pils.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: AUG 31, 2006 Bottled. Pours a pale golden color. Aroma is grainy and acidic. A little malty in flavor. . Slightly bitter finish. Not one of Karl’s best efforts. Drinkable.
Tap: Pretty decent, better than bottled.
