COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beneath the tides off Mission Beach rests Wreck Alley – a dark and mysterious seascape of forgotten ships. Amidst the rusted wreckage is a marine ecosystem, an artificial reef teeming with life. Our Wreck Alley is as dark as the depths of its namesake, an Imperial Stout of uncharted complexity. Brewed with darkly kilned malts, cocoa nibs, and Ethiopian coffee beans, Wreck Alley boasts rich layers of dark chocolate, toffee, and espresso-like roast. Save a bottle. This one has a stout shelf-life.

Bomber into pint, pours black with brown highlights and a medium, frothy beige head, short retention with light lacing. Flavor is licorice, coffee, roasted malt, spices, figs, raisins, chocolate, cocoa, alcohol. Was a bit thin wish it was more full bodied.

As soon as the cap was ripped off the bottle I was assaulted by an aroma of marmite. This is a polarising character and usually a sign of being left on its lees for a bit long, bit is there any other style that could potentially get away with it any better? The flavour is a much easier ride with cocoa, engine oil, licorice. As it happens, it’s remarkably easy to drink, masking its alcohol well. I have a lovely feeling of warmth in my cheeks and a surprising tolerance for the rest of the world. I like that. There’s also a faintly soapy finish as well, which is oddly intriguing.

In short: fizzy licorice-prune beer. Aroma: licorice, prune and roasted aromas. Appearance: black with almost not foam (white) Taste: light sweet and light bitter. Palate: some liquor and a little acidic fizzy sensation (carbonic?)

>> Clear deep brown pour, good foam and lace. Nose is richer toasted hazelnut and coffee. Intense coffee flavors, lighter body for the ABV, bitter, hazelnut, roasty, light acid, but overall more of a coffee brown ale than RIS given the body and flavors. Still, nice all around.

Very chocolaty, chocolate nose and chocolate taste. A bit of powdery cocoa somewhere in the middle too. I thought that the palate was just a tiny bit thin for an IRS. An under appreciated ale.

If your a fan of stouts, this is for you. Taste more like a regular stout than an imperial.

22 oz bottle pours thin black with an off white head. Sweet malt and coffee aroma. Tastes is mild cacao, coffee and hints of molasses. A little thin for the style. Smooth and enjoyable imperial stout.

Dark roast aroma. Rich espresso flavor. One inch thick head. Jet black, bitter roast and smooth toffee finish.
