COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beneath the tides off Mission Beach rests Wreck Alley – a dark and mysterious seascape of forgotten ships. Amidst the rusted wreckage is a marine ecosystem, an artificial reef teeming with life. Our Wreck Alley is as dark as the depths of its namesake, an Imperial Stout of uncharted complexity. Brewed with darkly kilned malts, cocoa nibs, and Ethiopian coffee beans, Wreck Alley boasts rich layers of dark chocolate, toffee, and espresso-like roast. Save a bottle. This one has a stout shelf-life.

22 FL OZ ($9.99) a good beer and is pretty complex. has a lot of flavors going on and is extremely drinkable at 9.5% ABV. I’ve had better imperial stouts and $10 for a 22floz is pretty over priced.

Sample at Kurtkeller 015: Coffee-tastic 02 on 07/05/2014. Dark brown color with a medium beige head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Strings of lacing. Aroma of malt, chocolate and coffee. Medium to full body with flavors of roast malt, chocolate and mild coffee. The finish is roasty with a short coffee aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle 22 fl.oz. Pours dark brown in color with an off-white head. Cocoa, dark roasted malts with notes of licorice and coffee as well. Roasted malty in taste with quite much chocolate being present. Coffee and sweeter notes towards the finish.

On tap at the brewpub. Appearance: dark brown-black color; opaque with a very durable tan head that leaves attractive lacing. Aroma: appealing mix of coffee and baked dark bread. Flavor: mildly sweet despite a strong coffee presence. High quality coffee component. Feel: medium-full body with soft, light carbonation. A bit syrupy. O: a very tasty coffee stout. Improved with warming. Reommended!

On tap at the brew outlet on Columbia St, San Diego on 18th March 2014. After three hop heavy beers this came along to remind me not all San Diego beers have to be hop led. Black with a malty nose, this Stout oozed coffee esters and flavours, a little too much coffee in fact. The maltiness seemed one dimensional because of the coffee dominance, maybe it mellows and changes with age, but fresh in keg form it failed to excite me too much.

Appearance: Black and a nice tannish head. Exactly as I’d expect from an Imperial Stout. Smell: A good amount of coffee in the nose. Taste: I got a lot of coffee in the first taste and then some chocolate sweetness came though. Subtle balance. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied that wish was more full bodied. Drinkability: Smooth and tasty.
