Beneath the tides off Mission Beach rests Wreck Alley – a dark and mysterious seascape of forgotten ships. Amidst the rusted wreckage is a marine ecosystem, an artificial reef teeming with life. Our Wreck Alley is as dark as the depths of its namesake, an Imperial Stout of uncharted complexity. Brewed with darkly kilned malts, cocoa nibs, and Ethiopian coffee beans, Wreck Alley boasts rich layers of dark chocolate, toffee, and espresso-like roast. Save a bottle. This one has a stout shelf-life.

If your a fan of stouts, this is for you. Taste more like a regular stout than an imperial.

22 oz bottle pours thin black with an off white head. Sweet malt and coffee aroma. Tastes is mild cacao, coffee and hints of molasses. A little thin for the style. Smooth and enjoyable imperial stout.

22 oz. bottle via trade. Pours a coffee brown color with a khaki head that settles into a thick ring after dissipating quickly. The coffee has washed out of this one already, and I think it’s several months (not years) old. There is some roastiness left, dry, with notes of cocoa, toasted sugar, and black olives. Light-medium bodied, with medium carbonation and a dry, roasty, earthy mouthfeel. Not much to this one. I guess I’d like to get it again super fresh but I am not getting my hopes up for a transformative experience.

Bottle. Black, off-white.. tan head. Licorice, milky chocolate, some vanilla on nose. Doesn’t feel that RISsy, sort of milky sweet stout more. Med full bodied, nice. Had to re-check the abv, as it’s definitely too easy for what’s printed on the bottle. And too weak. Well fermented, smooth nice strong stout. Lots of sweets, but with a thinny body, doesn’t cloy or overwhealm. Nice, but not astonishing.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of dark chocolate, coffee, nice roasted malts, sweet brownie notes into a hint of earthy spice, some toasted bread. Taste was a mix of caramel, molasses, dark chocolate into some roast, coffee, finishing fairly sweet, slightly bitter.

A very nice stout on the maltier side. Pours a deep black with a tan head. Smells of cream and vanilla with some dried blueberries. Taste is very cream with lots of vanilla and fruity blueberry jam. Malty finish. Had in the bottle.

I like this because well it is what is says it is. There isn’t an addition like "Chocolate" or "fruit of some kind" or "Coffee" that would guest in the middle. This is an honest and goodness "Stout" that I can discern. The chocolate or Coffee fro the roasted malts (I might be making it up) but what you end with is a beer that is really level drinking, there are no peaks in the flavour, no side shoes and a finish that isn’t dry and hints a some kind of dark fruits. It is perry good and worthwhile.
