Beneath the tides off Mission Beach rests Wreck Alley – a dark and mysterious seascape of forgotten ships. Amidst the rusted wreckage is a marine ecosystem, an artificial reef teeming with life. Our Wreck Alley is as dark as the depths of its namesake, an Imperial Stout of uncharted complexity. Brewed with darkly kilned malts, cocoa nibs, and Ethiopian coffee beans, Wreck Alley boasts rich layers of dark chocolate, toffee, and espresso-like roast. Save a bottle. This one has a stout shelf-life.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker. Nr Gent, Belgie. Consumed at Cliff House Campsite, Dunwich, Friday ’Christmas Day’ 25th December 2015 Lots of coffee coming across on the nose, but there is a light sour edge also. Slightly sour in the mouth (unsure if this is intentional) its fruity but lacks depth and complexity, not silky smooth, it’s ok but not what we expect from an Imperial Stout, in fact we couldn’t finish this. (Karl Strauss Wreck Alley Imperial Stout) Bottle 650 ml at home, served into a snifter, ABV 9.5% Black coloured body, one finger of kinda thin beige head on top, with good retention though. Aroma of cold coffee, coffee grounds, chocolate, light alcohol, vanilla. Great taste, lots of chocolate and coffee, very nicely combined, light toffee, light vanilla, well hidden alcohol Medium body, good carbonation, slightly sticky on the palate. Not the most complex imperial stout but highly drinkable. Great!

Bomber.
