Beneath the tides off Mission Beach rests Wreck Alley – a dark and mysterious seascape of forgotten ships. Amidst the rusted wreckage is a marine ecosystem, an artificial reef teeming with life. Our Wreck Alley is as dark as the depths of its namesake, an Imperial Stout of uncharted complexity. Brewed with darkly kilned malts, cocoa nibs, and Ethiopian coffee beans, Wreck Alley boasts rich layers of dark chocolate, toffee, and espresso-like roast. Save a bottle. This one has a stout shelf-life.

Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, chocolate, roasted malts and coffee.

Opaque black beer with a slight beige/brown head.

Starts medium/heavy sweet with malts, caramel and chocolate; ends slightly bitter and dry with roasted malts and coffee.

This beer is intense and balanced, but lacks complexity. Should have had way more depth for how sweet it was, but it was still great. Rather disappointing that the alcohol is definitely noticeable at the end.

Bottled (thanks MT). Deep brown, close to black, colour with a mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, some toffee and mild herbal notes. Flavour is chocolate, liquorice toffee, some mild wooden and herbal notes with a mild floral edge to it. Some slight roasted and coffeeish notes in the finish.

Bottle at beertemple. Black pour. Needed to breathe a little. Aroma of licorice, roasted malt and coffee. Flavor has licorice, mocha coffee, roasted malt and mild chocolate. Solid example of the style.

Bottle 660ml. Pours black with a decent off white head. Lots of coffee coming across on the nose, but there is a light sour edge also. Medium to light bodied with little to no carbonation. Slightly sour in the mouth (unsure if this is intentional) its fruity but lacks depth and complexity, not silky smooth, it’s ok but not what we expect from an Imperial Stout, bad batch? ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

660 ml bottle at hoem. Pours hazy dark brown with a tiny light beige greyish head. Aroma is subtle cold coffee, vanilla, and roasted malts. The body perfect: a medium yet sweet start, mellowing and increasingly creamy towards the mid, finishing malty and a bit bitter. This makes it easily drinkable. Taste is lightly dark chocolate, but loads of toasted malts. Very nice stout, not your typical imperial overdose, but well balanced, and that is a very good thing!

Bruin cola achtig bier met een kleine beige schuim kraag. Ruikt chocolade, cacao, koffie, geroosterd. Smaakt drop, chocolade, koffie en geroosterd.

Goed donker, weinig schuim. Chocola, karamel. Smaakt erg lekker. Beetje pittig, pepertje?
