COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beneath the tides off Mission Beach rests Wreck Alley – a dark and mysterious seascape of forgotten ships. Amidst the rusted wreckage is a marine ecosystem, an artificial reef teeming with life. Our Wreck Alley is as dark as the depths of its namesake, an Imperial Stout of uncharted complexity. Brewed with darkly kilned malts, cocoa nibs, and Ethiopian coffee beans, Wreck Alley boasts rich layers of dark chocolate, toffee, and espresso-like roast. Save a bottle. This one has a stout shelf-life.

Bottle, at RBNG-14 Grand Tasting. An almost black one, unclear, and topped by a dense, dark beige head. The aroma has a nice spiced touch as well as mocha and some dark sugars. Some peppery hints in the flavor with roasted malts and mocha. A nice hoppy bitterness chimes in with some pine cones too. Full body and a lovely carbonation level. Rather sweet, but in a nice way. Lasting roasted and mocha-ish finish. A pretty unusual one, but I really liked it. 140215

Bomber from Beverages 4 Less in Santee, CA. Pours black with a foamy/bubbly/creamy tan head. Aroma is rough burnt malt with some really tough/harsh dark chocolate. And crude/rude coffee. It’s so strong it’s almost offensive. Med+ body. Flavor is like chewing crude dark chocolate with smooth burnt malt, treacle, and something hinting of chili. This is so strongly flavorful it’s hard to compare to other IS. KS certainly did not scrimp on the ingredients. Powerfully flavorful ale.

Draft at Karl Strauss - Downtown San Diego location. Pours clear, dark brown with a creamy beige head. Sweet, milky coffee in the nose, some rich bread, cocoa. Medium to big sweet flavor with dark roast coffee, sugary chocolate, maple syrup, chocolate cake. Medium to full in body with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish with mild offsetting bitter earth, roasted malts, more chocolate and maple syrup, coffee beans and slight vanilla pods. Really nice.
