2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
33cl bottle@home in lager glass@approx 5 degrees C. Pours clear yellow with white head with sufficient retention. Aroma of malt and hay. Taste of typical Danish Gold Beer - clean, malt dominated lager, a little on the sweet side but with a little bitterness coming in in the aftertaste. No off tastes and a good thirst quencher, but nothing particular to recommend it except it’s low price. No better or worse that the Carlsberg competitors Sort Guld and Guld Tuborg.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
330 ml bottle, as Karlens Guldøl Danish Premium. ABV is 5.6%. Ingredients include maize and glucose syrup. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Fairly strong and sweetish grassy aroma. The flavour is not quite as sweet as I feared, and has a certain "crispness" that makes it quite drinkable, even if the hops are very moderate. Being a discount beer, this is not, after all, the definite bog standard.
