Rating #395, bottle from Lidl

First of all, before this is opened I have only the worst expectations. We are talking 33cl of beer for about the fourth of a euro, sold in discount store Lidl, and probably consisting of the worst bottom-mess from Carlsberg’s fermentation tank.

Pale golden beer with an immediately dissapearing head. Aroma is sour malts, brewing cereals and a bit of alcohol. Taste is brewing cereals and a certain bitterness, but not from the hops. A bit of bread, too, but not much. In the aftertaste is bitterness and loads of cardboard. I have never tried so obvious cardboard before. The beer is rather watery compared to other beer in this style and ABV, and the carbonation is too powerful. I also wonder why there are yeast fragments in my beer. It is not over the expiration date, and it is supposed to be filtered. It is probably the earlier mentioned bottom-mess from Carlsberg’s fermentation tank, but after all, this beer is more boring than bad.

Can 330ml. @ home.

Clear medium yellow color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, grain, corn, butter notes, light light hoppy. Flavor is light moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration, fruity, grass, sour malt notes. Body is light to medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20100621]
