2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Crnipapar (10) - Zagreb, CROATIA - SEP 20, 2006
This is in some way a new beer to Karlovačka Pivovara and it shows. Generaly it is not a bad beer but dont have that something special like Tomislav. Color is dark red and brown, creamy head, strong malty aroma, medium body, coffee and caramel taste, aftertaste is bitter caramel.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - OCT 1, 2005
(Bottle 50 cl) Warm chestnut colour with a marked reddish tint. Small, beige head. Sweetish aroma of caramel and roasted malt. Good, solid body with a distinct alcoholic approach. Light bitter finish. Hasn’t really got any Porter characteristics - more like a strong Dunkel, or a dark European Strong Lager. 300905
1.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20 TheGrandMaster (2335) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - SEP 11, 2005
Poured from the bottle, a cloudy brown with a large frothy head. A strong malty aroma, but nothing a special (a bit like old socks). Unfortunately the flavour is also a little like old socks, but as I haven’t tasted any old socks lately, a better comparison would be to bad vegetables. Was also very carbonated and sour in the mouth. (Can’t believe this is suppose to be a Porter, more like a NZ Brown Beer)
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Marko (3612) - Split, CROATIA - SEP 19, 2004
UPDATED: JAN 4, 2006 New Review: Poured a very dark red colour with a big thick, almost creamy tan head that went away at a medium pace leaving no lacing at all. Interesting deep sweet malt and caramel aroma (Papsoe got it right). The taste is rather interesting slightly sourish and metallic, coffee and caramelish malt. Roasty an bitter aftertaste. Yup, this is actually a dunkel, not a porter as someone who added it thought. Not offensive, refreshing even. I’ve had a lot worse beers than this thank you very much. Of course, this isn’t nearly as good as Tomislav or the dark Velebitsko, but it has is own merits. The rating stays the same.
Old review: Bottled, 0.5l. Dark, dark almost black red, a big brown, but rapidly disappearing head. Unimpressive, but enjoyable taste, with some hardly noticable hints of chocolate. If you can’t find Tomislav, this is ok. If you can choose from both, pick Tomislav. (19.09.2004)

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Donatas (188) - Vilnius, LITHUANIA - JUN 20, 2004
Good beer on hot summer day. Nice country, nice beer. (Točeno pivo - the best taste)
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Gazza (726) - Worcester, Worcestershire, ENGLAND - MAR 24, 2004
The best beer Karlovacko do, but that's not saying much really. An overly sweet, caramelly nose, flavour and finish only tempered a little by some chocolate malt. Easy going stuff, but it soon gets cloying. (sampled in station bar, Zapresic, Croatia)
