UPDATED: JUN 16, 2005 (Bottle 50 cl) 5,5% ABV in my version. Fully golden, quite nice head. Nice body and a very pronounced bitterness that lingers on the palate. 150404

500ml brown bottle. Golden with small thin head. Malt aroma, malty sweet flavour, trace of bittereness late. Lots of carbonation.

Pour is yellow with a fizzy white head. Aroma is more malty then most lagers. Flavor is bland malts and hardly any hops. Leaves a sweet honey aftertaste. Its probably slightly better than most eastern euro lagers but thats not saying much. Hey look a brown bottle!

Thanks to tiggmtl for this one. Pours deep gold with white head. Aroma of honey malt, some hopcit. Tastes malty, with some hopcit and honey at the finish. Smooth, decent mouthfeel. Not bad at all.

LCBO bottle. Prerequisite Yellow and fizzy characteristics. Nice white head last and fades to a film leaving great lacing. Almost creamy mouthfeel which is disconcerting. Aroma is mostly grain and malt. Flavors include malt and slight hoppiness, runs on the sweet side. On the pale lager spectrum this isn’t half bad.

(Say it "Car-low-VAHTCH-ko.") Very refreshing and clean. One of the better recent "commie lagers" at the LCBO, Karlovačko is at least pure tasting compared to gut-rot Baltika, Warka etc. It may not stand out next to Budvar / Urquell, and its milder and paler than the good Polish Pilseners. But it is a good session beer for me - with a nice light grainy sweetness and subtle hop profile that for me recalls Chrysanthemums. A good, interesting macro by any standards.

Cornfield (5276) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - MAR 8, 2005
UPDATED: JUL 20, 2005 Straw colored with a short-lived head, this has a sweet grainy aroma. It’s very soft in the mouth and quite sweet, but there’s no flavor in the finish. It’s drinkable.

Colour is your run-of-the-mill medium-light gold. The effusive hop/grain aroma is very inviting. Based on the aroma, the one-dimensional, sweet flavour profile catches you off-guard, with its candy-like aftertaste. Average stuff.

Bottle with a red label, 5.4%abv Light gold with moderate carbonation and a moderate white head which falls quite quickly. Light aroma with hints of green apples and malt. Full, but dull bitter flavour, with a harsh, dry bitter finish.

Not great lager, nothing to write home about, so I’ll write to ratebeer. Better then being thirsty.
