1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
(500 ml bottle: $1.69 at Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido, CA) and (12 oz bottle: BevMo in La Jolla, CA) This beer is bottle number eight of the Beers Of The World swill pack from BevMo, so I might as well do a more in depth rating than the previous one. This is yet another awful pale lager from an eastern European brewery owned by Heineken. I detect a trend. This one is powered by an unpleasant, sweet grain flavor and is only mildly bitter, but also is plagued by cardboard, especially in the finish. The sweet nose exhibits similar characteristics, but at least the cardboard is less intrusive than in the flavor. Thin body, but not absolutely water either. Medium straw in color and almost perfectly clear, topped by a small white head that dissipates fairly rapidly to a thin ring, leaving only a few spots of lacing on the glass. By far the most interesting thing about this beer is trying to decipher the bottling code on the label: "35 L 4 5". I’m going to take a stab and say this was bottled 04-Dec-05. Oh well, with this short diversion now over, it’s time to dump the rest of this nasty beer down the drain. Blah!

1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Another struggler. Pale gold and frothy is how it poured into my glass - no surprises there. Even the aroma seemed watery on this one it was that weak. Also some metal in the aroma, which transferred through into tasting. A little bitterness and sweetness gave a bit of interest. Pretty weak allround really - I’m sure it’d sell really well over here ;-)

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottled. Poured a clear very bright golden with a tall cap of creamy white head... just a few light floaties. Sweet malts, corn, and mild veggies in the nose... not bad, though. Flavor picked up more of the veggies and some light skunk... with a sweet malt body (found a little honey in there). Finish wasn’t bad, but was certainly unmemorable.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottled. Clear golden in colour. Almost no head. It has a sweet and malty aroma with hints of metal. The taste is malty and watery. It has a rich carbonation and a sweetish aftertaste.

Bottled. Golden colour, small white head. Cooked vegetables and malt in aroma. Flavour is barnyardish malts with skunky notes. Also overcarbonated. No real big surprises from this one...

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
For me the best of the three big brewerie beers in Croatia. Orange colour, with hopy and malty aroma, but not to bitter

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
An orange beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of metal and straw, while the flavor only is sweet malty with light notes of metal. A typical Eastern European Pale Lager.
