Organic beer, originally brewed for the french market. The newer Karmeliten Biobier is a slightly tweaked version for the german market as there are different laws for organic ingredients in France and Germany.

500ml bottle from Terre de Boisson, Calais. Clearish gold pale with thin white head. Some puke on a lemony noble hop aroma. Some cereal too. Yes a touch pukey and not very good cereal or malts. Some continuing lemon through til the end. Some bitterness on finish. A middle of the road helles, with a bit of decent lemony character. Goes ok with strong pepperoni pizza. Still it has flaws

Bottle bought in Paris. Golden body with medium head. Nose is corny, malty, sweet. Taste is also caramel, sugar, toffee, some malts and oats. Sticky texture. Quite okay.

Bottle from bio store in Paris. Cause pesticides will shrink your ballls. Smells like apples. Looks gross. Light colored but grossly, slightly opaque, like old apple juice. Tastes great! Like apple juice. A good beer.

(bottle, 33cl) Slightly , pale golden colour with a big and blond foamy head. Slightly biscuity pale malty aroma with traces of honey and a mildly spicy hoppy background. Moderately bitter and slightly sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Pale malty, slightly biscuity and minimally buttery taste with herbal and subtle woody hops; bitter-sweet finish with a tinge of honey in the aftertaste. 19.XII.11

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2011 Bottle, Karmeliten Biobier. Honeyish spice to the malt and light flowery hop aroma. Golden, fine carbonation, lacing head. Dusty/minerally edges, behind a full malt body and good broad grassy, earthy and citric hop notes. Full chewy body, sparkly mouthfeel. Well balanced and moreish despite the somewhat hard salts.

How near, or how far? Well, I’m saddened to see so few reviews of this brew.... after all, I found it in a 330ml bottle in Paris, hardly the German Beer Capital of the world! So, how near, or how far.... it pours with a solid head, average golden body. Aroma is of grains, perhaps cereals (meaning the "grains" per se have been diversified), but subtle. The taste - the taste! It’s like a non-alcoholic brew, some barley and malts and cereals, as if the thing had no alcohol! But yet, with over five percent of its volume as alcohol, we know that something is up! Yes, this product is all over the place - it may be "bio" but it lacks a reason to be so. I’m not convinced of its placement in this universe. But I will, despite all odds, still finish the bottle.

Pale amber organic beer. Lightly carbonated with fully diminishing head. Leaves no lacing. Light yeasty taste with mildly bitter finish. Thin bodies yet well balanced. Good choice as far as organic beers go but on the dull side.
