Our tribute to the oil industry workers of our great state. A bold taste of complex roasted malts with just the right amount of hops to augment the balance of our newest member of the family.

Medium brown, thick head. Not much nose but a rich, nourishing malty stout with mellow hop bitterness and balanced roast/chocolate taste.

Bottle. Definitely smells and tastes a bit sweet with what seems like a bit of lactose. Definitely roasty, but not too much of the roasting character. Ok, but nothing great.

Smells like chocolate milk. Pours dark black with a tan head. Smooth stout flavor with a bitter chocolate finish.

Thanks, Terry Stovall, for bringing this from Anchorage, AK --- Opaque Black color, big 2" tan head that lasts and lasts, bands and swirls of lace. Taste is clean roasted malt that grows earthy and adds some dark chocolate in the palate before allowing a bit of hops to enter late in the finish. A spectacular stout, not overly sweet, no oily residue, satisfying to drink. High recommendations.

Bottle received in trade from BeerKangaroo, thanks for the opportunity and a great trade! Pours a solid dark brown/ black color with a huge khaki head that persists forever leaving a moderate amount of lace on the sides. Aromas of chocolate and roast with a decent amount of burnt caramel and earthy hop in there. A touch of oxidation in there, but that could be from the damaged cap upon shipping, and it really doesn’t detract much anyhow. The flavor is rich roasty and chocolate up front. Bits of caramel and dark dried fruits and a touch of earthen crusted hops round out the flavor nicely. Medium to thick body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a silky creamy smooth mouthfeel. Pretty damn good oatmeal stout right there in my glass, so glad I got to try this.

Reviewed from notes. Consumer November 3rd, 2013. Into a pint glass. She pours jet black and leaves the same colored body with a one finger foamy off white head that leaves some nice foamy lacing in rings. The smell is roasty, nutty, and has some strong coffee beans. The taste has bitter coffee yet also slightly roasty and nutty, bitter coffee aftertaste, super dry finish. On the palate, its about a medium of sorts and comes across somewhat sessionable, carbonation feels right for the style and for me, decent harshness invading the mouth and tongue, but honestly I say it cuts just right. Overall, this is a good oatmeal stout that I would have again, especially for the fact that it held up this long, which means I definitely would try again fresher, quite possibly the best one by Kassik’s (I knew there was a reason why I kept trying their stuff).

Black with a thin tan head. White chocolate aroma. Sweet at first and slightly bitter in the finish. Roasted malt adds some complexity. Better as it warms.

Bottle:   Black, large foamy light beige head, nice lacing.   Powdery nose of bakers chocolate and burnt malts.   Similar tongue, a bit more sweet than the nose suggested, roasty, dark chocolate.   Seems more dry and somewhat more burnt or at least has a charred aspect that most Sweet Stouts don’t have.   Not as "sweet" as other Sweet Stouts.   Instead, its a bit drier, roastier, with a more of a charred wood/campfire aspect.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Clean finish, soft roasted malts and dark chocolate linger.   The charred wood/campfir were only fleeting.   Not quite what I think of when I drink a Sweet Stout, as it has no lactose like sweetness.   As a Stout, its somewhat decent, and perhaps a bit bigger than your average stout.   Different, but enjoyable.   Big hint, don’t think of this as a Sweet Stout when drinking this one.
