Bottle thanks to my friend Jamie: Poured a murky orange brown with a light head. Aroma is sweet caramel malt. Taste is a mix of caramel/roasted malts, light smoke, hops and very drinkable. The alcohol is well hidden and makes it feel light for a Scotch Ale.

I poured this into a thistle. The appearance was a ruddy brown color with a one finger white foamy head that simmers down to a nice level coating over top of the body. There is some decent lacing clinging finely to the sides of the glass. The smell, holy caramel malty scotch, wow. This could be overbearing to some, but not too bad to me. Its just not that well balanced. The taste is super sweet through the caramel malts. There is a long caramel aftertaste leading into a dry caramel finish. On the palate, it sat about a light to medium on the body with a pretty good sessionable aspect to it. The carbonation is barely there - its almost too smooth and creamy to be true. Overall, not a bad Wee Heavy/Scotch ale, but its not exactly balanced as I didnít get any peatiness in this one.

22-Jan-08 (Draft: Kassik’s Kenai Brew Stop in Nikiski, AK) Moderately hazy, amber-brown body is capped by a half inch of pale-tan head that settles to a wide ring, leaving plenty of patchy and stringy lacing on the glass. Medium sweet-smelling and caramely nose is only lightly aromatic, but these tiny taster glasses aren’t exactly ideal for appreciating the bouquet. Very fruity and caramely on the palate with medium sweetness, but a gentle hop flavor and light bitterness for nice balance. Medium "plus" body thins a bit in the finish and could use a bit more weight in general. Overall, for what "strong scotch" ale implies to me, the beer isn’t quite as rich or full-bodied as I expected, but it’s still a very enjoyable beer. (Note: this won a bronze medal at the 2008 World Beer Cup for the Strong Scotch Ale category, so that shows you what I know! A warm, heart-felt congrats to you, Frank and Debara!)

22 oz bottle. Clear amber with a small off white head. Aroma of caramel, bread dough and light smoke. Flavor is sweet caramel malt, more bread dough and a slight acidic smoke. Medium body with average to mild carbonation and an oily, coating mouth feel. This is a nice Scotch ale, alcohol is fairly well hidden and itís got good drinkability.

Amber, clear, off white head. Aroma of sweet grainy malt, some caramel, a little buttery note. Flavor is crystal malt sweet with some grainy dryness in finish, and again a buttery note. A little on the light side for a wee heavy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Caramel and bread on the nose, negligible hops. Nice brown color. Deep caramel flavor, nice sweetness to it. Lacks a little depth but generally good flavor.

This beer kicks you in the shorts. Not my favorite type of beer but very flavorful and easy to drink. A little rich for me to drink on a regular basis. It is a fun beer to add to a sauna for a nice buzz.
