Trade with SHIG. Interesting beer in a 22oz bottle. Tan-black. A-chocolate-dk malt, earthy, some chalky. T-chocolate-dk malt (with a following astringency as it warms), chalky, hint of cherry. Down to a 2.8 warm. Water chemistry?

Dark brown pour, fluffy light brown head. Overly roasty, overly dry, a bit harsh, artificial flavors, very thin. I didnít enjoy this one much at all.

"Being both an imperial chocolate, and a cherry stout, I had high hopes for this - but it just didnít measure up. Each attribute was lacking...thin in body for a stout bordering on imperial. The chocolate was WAY underdone, made worse when we had the decadent Siren Noir soon after. The cherry is done ok, lightly tart and sweet, but itís only atop a light roast in the flavor...woulda been better with a ton of chocolate to play off of. Stone set the bar for this style, and this falls way short of that brew."

22, Pours black with a gigantic tan head, explosive, rushing over the lip of the glass. Lots of webby, sedimentary lace. Rich chocolatey nose showing some vanilla and no shortage of aluminum. Creamy, slightly slick medium body with soft carb. Chocolate and tons of aluminum on the mid palate. Cherries definitely got way out ahead of them on this one, pity. Sweetish finish.

Bottle:   Deep brown, moderate tannish head, frothy, nice lacing.   Chocolate nose, dark or bakers like, subtle cherry, some alcohol and a tad of roasted malts.   Cherry starts to stand out as it warms.   On the tongue its somewhat mild, a little chocolate, cherry, alcohol, but also a little medicinal or metallic notes.   As Tom said, aluminum is noticeable.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Bakers chocolate, dusty chocolate covered cherries, faint ash/campfire, and a little bit of metal on the finish.   Not half bad, not big, while a bit alcoholic it doesnít feel like 8.5%, but the metallic notes detract.   Could stand to be richer, as body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Slight dark pitted fruit linger.   Some flaws, but entertaining at least.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thick two centimetre tall lighter brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, alcohol, chocolate, cherries, strawberries and a bit of icing sugar. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong roasted malt flavours with a lot of chocolate bitterness and a good rich cherry flavour that pokes through some of the bitterness. Aftertaste shows a good complexity with a little nuttiness, some oats and quite a bit of earthy malt, coupled with a lot of milky and soft chocolate flavours. Overall, a nice robust beer with a ton of nice flavour and a soft finish, despite the bitterness up front. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Brown Jug in Anchorage (Old Seward Location) on 26-May-2013 for US$7.99 sampled at home in New Paltz, New York on 29-November-2013.

Dark brown in color, thick haze with a thin tan head. Light cherry flavor and aroma. The chocolate was like that of a light layer of dust in the brew, It was tasty but lacking of the cherry. Dark malt flavors this was rich but lacking of the needed chocolate and cherry.
