"Kastaar is an authentic beer, balancing on a harmony of taste and colour, between pale and dark, between sweet and bitter and spirited, subtile and complex. The ideal refreshment because of his lower alcohol content and his fruity taste and flavour. A real K-Star from our scale, a strong fellow (meaning of Kastaar)full of allurement and very charming, with his specific Kastaarglass it has brought us a lot of pleasure during serveral decennia.

33 cL bottle, thanks to MiP. Pours slight hazy yellow with a little white head. Light citrus fruity and slight yeasty aroma. Flavour is dry citrus fruity with a light woody note. Light spiced note. Ends also with a light citrus fruity note and a mild yeasty note.

11.3 oz bottle. Cloudy orange beer with a white fast-fading head. Aroma is quite fruity. Peach and apricot with some soft black pepper. Spicy yeastiness with a soft Belgian malt base. Cotton candy sweetness and a bit of citrus. Yeasty and lightly herbal flavour. A bit of mint/spiciness on the back. It’s not great, but I’ve definitely had worse.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2008 Hazy orange with white co2 head. It looks highly carbonated. Sweet acidic aroma. Malty sweet taste but too dry for me. Very light body. The high carbonation in combination with the dryness led to a less than enjoyable experience.

Bottle from Cracked Kettle. Hazy orange colour. Hoppy, citrusy nose. Fruit tastes, citrus, peach, orange. Some spices, including coriander. Texture quite smooth. But no punch really. Fair enough.

11.2 oz bottle poured into a tumbler- poured transparent thin yellow, a decent lacing head. Aroma of very light yeast and fruit. Hits the mouth with a thin body, no real detectable qualities, slight hop/alcohol finish. Ho-hmm.

Nice looking beer; hazy orange, a touch of glow, and a medium sized fizzy head. Nose shows good (and balanced) fruits and some underlying malts. Maybe some fruity hops as well. Fizzy palate kills any chance of the flavours being able to shine. Some of the fruity character tries to poke through but the fizz drives a dry and slightly bitter / extracted flavour profile. Kinda like a Asahi with a fruity edge.

33 cL. Pours pale gold with a decent white head. Sweetish, grainy aromatics with some hops and grass. Fairly balanced flavor, lightly sweet with mild bitterness. Maybe a tad warming, considering the relatively low alcohol. Thin. A decent quaffer for washing down dinner, but nothing to write home about.

Surprised by this one. Pours a yellow golden color with a small white bubbly head. Smells very sweet and slightly fruity. Tastes is champagne like and is very refreshing. A very different belgian.

Bottle. Clear yellow orange color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate yeasty, light suger, light spicy. Flavor is light to moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is lively to soft. A bit borring ! (051007)

They brought this one back from the dead. Kastaar pours tawny yellow w/ a full, snowcone of a froth that just keeps on giving. This is it’s best trait. Head retention is good and it reduces to a thick clumpy sludge of cream. Nice! The aroma is almost imperceptable but I can smell the spice and fruity malts. Light nectar w/ ample residual effers. This creates an amplified carbonation effect as it hits the palate. Flavors are weak and fruity w/ an acidic component that is not so appealing. Flavors are slightly rustic w/ dried stone fruits at the core and other citrusy implications. The finish is bittered w/ citric acid. Overall: if someone asked me to describe this beer with one word, I’d say "UGLY".
