The ideal refreshment because of his lower alcohol content and his fruity taste and flavour. A real K-Star from our scale, a strong fellow (meaning of Kastaar)full of allurement and very charming, with his specific Kastaarglass it has brought us a lot of pleasure during serveral decennia.

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2006 Bottle. Honey body with a thick foamy head. Nose-dust, light malt, stale hops. Taste-sharp, bread dough, alcohol, apple, tannins, spice, pear. Perfectly spiced, beautiful taste. I have no idea why this is rated so low.

UPDATED: FEB 21, 2006 33 cl bottle, bbe 14th Nov 06. Honey-coloured, slightly hazy, abundant head. A dense, perfumed malty aroma, also a bit reminiscent of honey, with some hops. Dense and complex on the palate, starting with acidity on the tip of the tongue, flowing into warming maltiness into gentle and noble hop biterness at the end (and in the aftertaste); just a little bit too sweet. A not so impressive sour-bitterish note (with a hint of butterscotch, or am I dreaming?) spoils the picture.

Pours a hazed straw gold with a white head. Nose is yeasty and citrus-like. Flavor is thick with character. Strong yeast influence. Fairly bold lemon edge. Feel is good. Nice bubble on the tongue and a thicker body feel on the tongue. Highly drinkable. So smooth and even, it could easily be a session brew.

Belgian candy nose. Really pretty looking in the glass- nice fluffy white head and a deep golden color. Very yeasty first sip, and I like me some yeast. Very effervescent. I am very surprised at some of the low ratings for this. I won’t say it is a favorite, but not bad at all.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a very large sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that was mostly lasting and left behind a hazy typically carbonated light yellow colored body and thick foamy lacing. The aroma was malty and musty. The crisp and clean mouth feel was tingly at the start with a mellow finish vinous aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of mild hops and semi-sweet. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

Another unique take on a Belgian ale from the good folk at De Block Brouwerij. Tasted from the bottle and into a stumpy tulip glass, cool and not cold. Poured orange, hazy, with very fine carbonation raising a dense two-layered white head of foam that left an abundance of lace down the glass. Strong toffee, lemon and yeast nose with and underpinning hint of peppery, herbal spices and leafy hops. Similar notes I wrote for the Abdije Tripel Dendermonde, of the same brewery. Sweet and unusually tart in the mouth. Husky, and lightly bitter in the back, it had a grainy malt and bready yeast mid-palate, toffee upfront and a little noticeable alcohol throughout. Flavours of candi sugar, white wine, lemons and fresh leafy herbs made it quite an interesting mouthful, albeit a little light on. Relatively light bodied, spritzy in carbonation and with a long lingering aftertaste of herbs and citric fruits, it was overall quite refreshing and slipped down with ease. A different and easily sessionable Belgian ale. Quite nice!!!
