Belgian pale ale.
Kasteel Hoppy is a blond ale of high fermentation, with a bitterness of 45 EBU. Strictly selected, Belgian hops are essential for the hoppy, spicy aroma, with a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Bottle at home. Lovely malty on the nose. Pleasantly mild, sweet taste with a hop bite. Medium body. Nice. I have no complaint whatsoever.

A light sweet smell of cookies, some hops. The small white foamy head has a normal duration. The body is yellow. A light taste of yeast, light bitter. The body is medium strong, creamy and light dry with a normal carbonation.

F: thin, white, quick gone. C: almost clear, gold. A: weak malty, candy, grassy, straw, yeast. T: malty, grassy bitterness, hint of citrus peels, watery, toasty, thin-bodied, average carbonated, I expected more interesting hoppy character, 0,33l bottle from Match supermarket in Brussels.

Very nice Belgian ale, that borders on IPA-style. Fresh taste, with outstanding bitter hop-tones, while never overdoing it. Some citrus-tones as well, with a lightly sweet aftertaste.

33 cl bottle @ home. Hazy yellow-amber colour, great white foamy head. Aroma is grassy, citrus and hops. Bitter, yeasty taste with slight sour notes. Could classify as an IPA.

Pours a fairly clear golden color, topped with a very big and semi-lasting white soapy head. Grassy aroma, some soury grape notes, white wine feel to it. Moderate bitterness, white wine feel, soury. Slight fruity feel later on. A bit yeasty and earthy as well. Not the worst one, but still not that great.

Hoppy aroma. Big white head. Taste is a little sweet with obvious hop bitterness. Kind of IPA-like.

0.33l bottle. Hazy orange color with lasting white head. Aroma is sugary, spicy and malty. Taste is sweet with some hop notes. Medium body. Overall it’s good beer, but nothing special.

This one tastes like a generic Belgian pale ale, maybe a bit drier than most. No idea where the extra hop profile comes in, it’s not in the taste and not in the aroma either. A decent beer nonetheless.
