Elwood (676), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Mar 22, 2009 Draft. I have to admit, I have been looking forward to giving this one a try. It seems like you either love it or hate it, so here we go! It pours a nice, deep cherry red with a pinkish head. The nose reminds me of a black cherry soda/maraschino cherry mix. Medium-high carbonation with a lighter, syrupy mouthfeel. It is a sourish cherry (think good black cherry soda in a way) on the palate. The finish is surprisingly clean. All cherry, all the way, but very well done. I wouldn’t want to drink it all night, but I am a definitely a fan! SledgeJr (2957), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Mar 21, 2009 In the bottle from Max & Joe’s Tavern. Pours a dark reddish purple with a lavender head. The aroma is strong of Smith Sister’s cough drops. The flavor is an amazing taste of bing cherries. Phenomenally delicious. kitschy (197), Nebraska, USA Mar 20, 2009 In bottle. Yum!!! Delicious black cherry flavor. Would be super over ice cream, as a slushy drink, at the beach... anywhere good and happy things are happening. Enough malt to support the flavor. Dark red color with dainty pink head. whartonbrewer (30), , Pennsylvania, USA Mar 18, 2009 Nose of rich cherries. Pours slightly hazy, with golden-red color. Small head which disappears quickly. Flavor is very sweet, with cherries. Has a dry, crisp finish. I’m a fan! Doggythedog (1541), Split, Croatia Mar 15, 2009 0.75l bottle (Kasteel Roge 8°) from the Croatian Beershop shared with heavy. Poured a hazy, very dark red body with a lasting off white head. Fine fruity cherry nose, fine fruity cherry taste, dry, slightly acidic. Feels natural. Some herbal notes. Simpler than expected but still quite tasty and good for a fruit beer. Holdwine (905), Beertimore, Maryland, USA Mar 6, 2009 On tap at Max’s. Too much like Smith Bros. at the start, but then it grew on me. Syrupy sweet, fresh cherry nose. 8%? Hard to believe. Let it sit and you will be rewarded. Bean (16), Quebec, Canada Mar 6, 2009 Candy-cherry mixed with wild yeast strain aroma. Tastes much sweeter than I had prepared my self to. Very nice color with a pretty little foamy dress.
