Adenila (931), Denmark Oct 2, 2009 Had no idea it was a kriek untill i poored it. Quess i should check the bottle (the 33cl one). Very dark red color with a light red head. Strong sweet sugery cherry aroma, great! Lovly tart and sugery flavor but with a sleight bitter finish that i didnt care for. Still really nice. Pailhead (2572), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Sep 30, 2009 Bottle: The aroma is loaded with sweet cherries and just the slightest hint of tart cherries. It pours a somewhat transparent garnet with moderate sediment and a small fizzy pinkish head that quickly fades to a ring around the edges of the glass. The flavor is all sweet cherries up front. The finish turns lightly tart, but it’s pretty much dominated by sweet cherries. The alcohol is definitely noticeable...not so much it heat, but in flavor. A solid beer, the alcohol flavor doesn’t mesh very well with the cherries and becomes a little distracting. Medium bodied, with lively, and somewhat fizzy, carbonation. Brandman (94), Helsinki, Finland Sep 30, 2009 330 ml bottle. Dark red clear body, small light redish head. Aroma is very sweet and deep cherry, a black cherry. Taste has sweetness and cherry, too. Very oily mouthfeel with some bitterness. Has some nice warmt of alcohol in flavor. Very nice fruit beer. BelgiskOlklub (397), Viby J, Denmark Sep 22, 2009 Small creamy white/red lasting head. Clear red-brown body. Heavy aroma of cherry - and that’s it. Medium body and a sticky texture. Heavy sweet and a warming finish. SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Sep 21, 2009 Bottle 05/04
Cellared since purchasing at New Beer Distributors.
Big pop but little head produced with the pour; just a thin ring of bubbles at the edge of the glass.
Subtle fruit, some leathery notes.
Sweet fruity flavor, smooth. Bov (5403), Bienne, Switzerland Sep 19, 2009 from Au Grain d’Orge, labelled Kasteel Rouge - fully cloudy reddish-brown colour with a firm beige foam; strong aroma of cherries and marzipan, very sweet and full-bodied, juicy with some acidic tartness; long sweetish cherries aftertaste - strong and very sweet yet quite enjoyable Tejas (693), Dallas, Texas, USA Sep 13, 2009 Interesting beer. Looks cool in the glass > Dark red. Sweet at first then sour. Tons of different flavors as it warms up. Yeasty but not to much so. Would drink again. RichardW (241), Carlisle, Cumbria, England Sep 9, 2009 Bottle, Rehills, Newcastle. Delicious deep ruby kriek. All the attributes of a great Belgian fruit beer, loads of flavour, fine aroma and sweet, yet balanced.
