Poured clear red color with a two finger head from a bomber. Very sweet and syrupy with an acidic bite on the end. Cherries aroma/flavor everywhere. I’m not overly impressed. The use of cherry syrup instead of brewing from real cherries greatly diminishes the overall character.

A: Murky red pour with a well retained pink head and nice lacing. S: Cherries and grenadine T: Almost like a lambic but more beer based. Enjoyable M: Nice amount of carbonation gave it a smooth mouthfeel. D: Carbonation helped with the drinkability as well but I’m glad I shared this bottle amongst friends rather than drinking the whole thing. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 09-05-2008

Bottle 33cl. A brown-red ale with pink head. Smell is deeply on cherries. Its quite sweet with an heavy cherry aroma, the finish is short, it remains some non natural sirup’s smell. Quite alcoholic, no bad but heavy.

Pours a very plum-red color. Looks great, especially with light coming in from behind. Little to no head that fades fast if you get it to appear. Smells of cherries and cherries. A little syrupy smelling, at least that is how I would describe it - strange. Tastes of sour cherries. I think this is actually what New Belgium is re-bottling as their old Transatlantique, well not really but it’s very close. Excellent Kriek, although mine is bottled as Rouge. And that is the only way I’ve seen it here.

Bottle. Deep red, almost brown, no head. Very sweet cherry candy aroma. Very sweet artificial cherry flavour with a hint of sourness. Meh.
