Sampled as Kasteel Rouge from a bottle @ World Cafe Live Winterfest. Fellow attendees thought it tasted like ’Robitussin’. I had a different take, I thought was an well done blended Belgian Ale. Cherry dominates the flavor but backed up well with malts and a hint of Belgian yeast. I agree with most raters, I couldn’t drink it all night, however it was a well done fruit beer.

On tap and called Kasteel Rouge. A light and pleasant fruit brew. Strong cherry aroma and flavor. Its weakness is a soda poppy quality.

Bottled 2 years old, thanks to a friend (Arjen). Dark red coloured, pinkish head. Strong cherry aroma. Very sweet cherry flavour, cloying. Overly sweet imho.

Looks like a fine wine with a pinkish head on it. Aroma is full of cherries. Flavor is tart with a slight bite due to the alcohol content. One would not be able to enjoy this all night, but they can enjoy it!

Bottles on 070924 according to the bottle, 11/07 according to the cork. Pour is red amber, dark, velvety and a pretty pink head. Aroma is full of cherries, strong bittersweet cherries. There is a faint hint of musty Belgian beer, sweet malt yeast. Flavor is very sweet, almost like sparkling cherry juice. This is one of the most fruity-fruit beers I have had, but its one of the more drinkable of the class. The redeeming feature of this beer is that it does close with some malt characteristics with the sourness of the cherries.

Deep burgundy/red colour with a thin pink head. Light chewy cherry aroma. Rich cherry pit spiciness. Some other apricot pit/almondy nuttiness. Rich and quite sweet. Cherries and a lovely cinnamon/clove character. Lightly vineous character and a soft cherry/fruitiness. Lingering sweetness with a touch of light tartness. This reminds me of Quelque Chose, but a little bit simpler.

Pours an opaque, strongly reddish mahogany with a fine-bubbled pinkish head. Scent of cherries dominates the the malty aroma. Flavor is almost too sweet, mainly cherry with an undertone of malt. Mouthfeel is smooth and pleasing, and aftertaste is mainly sweet but not cloying with hints of hops.
