Reddish beer with a thin head. Cherry, earthy aroma. Cherry, earthy, sweet flavor. Medium body. Nice sweet/tart flavor. LIngering cherry, earth, tart. Reminds me a lot of a LIndemans without being as sweet. Easy drinking - 8% surprises me. Driftwood6 (214), USA Nov 15, 2007 On tap at Brixie’s in Brookfield, IL-- named Kasteel Rouge. Not at all sour-- very much a sweet cherry fruit beer. Almost reminded me of New Glarus Belgian Red. Very refreshing with no aftertaste. DrnkMcDermott (1831), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Nov 13, 2007 Guest tap at 3Floyds brewpub. Served in a big Rochefort goblet. Black body with sudsy bubbles. Sweet and tart cherry smell combined, not much else, but that can be enough. Great taste of sweet cherries, but balanced with malt so it’s not just a cherry cocktail. A slight note of cocoa. Carbonation level is right between beer and champagne, and seems appropriate for this brew. Joyfully alcoholic. HopheadHans (753), Bay Area, California, USA Nov 12, 2007 tap at Toronado. Hmm more like cherry juice than beer but quite pleasant. This one has cherries and not much else. Super sweet with just a hint of malts. I liked it but would not call mit beer. This is one of the most extreme krieks I sampled.
