Aroma is very cherry... rather like a cherry soda, really. Taste is also very cherry, with hints of vanilla. Reminds me of dissolved sweet-tarts, though certainly more sweet than tart. Mouthfeel is strange, perhaps undercarbonated, and alcohol is in no way apparent. $3.50/11.2oz hophead75 (1952), Boonton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 21, 2007 on tap at Eulogy. Muddy reddish brown with a pink head. Aroma is sweet maraschino(sp?) cherries and little else. Taste is very sweet with a ton of cherry, has a light tartness but it’s still too cloying for my tastebuds...Alcohol very well hidden though. badlizard (2341), Berkeley, California, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 14, 2007 on tap at Brouwers. Sweet cherry aroma with a dark Burgundy appearance. Flavor is of sweet dark cherries. The alcohol is cleverly concealed. I was not expecting much but this beer is a knockout.

The flavor was so smooth, excellent scent of sweet cherries, not too sweet on the palate tho. Nice smooth finish, not bitter, no after-taste. High alcohol, but you cannot taste it at all. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Oct 12, 2007 Wow...now this is a fruit beer. Those Belgians got this style locked. Aroma of heavy cherries. Pour was a mouthwatering deep dark red/almost brown with a 2 finger cherry colored head. Taste was sour cherries and not much else. You almost have to question the alcohol content. There is a little alcoholic burn in the aftertaste, but doesn’t seem 8% by any means. Great beer. beerbastard (98), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 11, 2007 When I purchased this beer it didnt say Kriek on the label, just Kasteel Rouge. I didn’t read the fine print. Boy was I surprised. Normally I do not buy fruit beers. However it’s very good. It’s wounderful to look at, a reddish brown. Almound vanilla nose. Mild sour cherry taste very smooth. Dry clean finish. A Belgium Sour?
