Ungstrup (10432), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 19, 2005 [At Dr. Bill’s afterparty after GABF 2004 - 7 years old] An unclear dark red beer with no head. The aroma is sweet and dominated by cherries. The flavor is sweet with notes of cherries and wood and an extremely dry end. Lovely. omhper (9704), Stockholm, Sweden Sep 28, 2007 Bottled (as Kasteel Rouge) at Stockholm Beer Festival. Deep ruby, rich head. Concentrated cherry aroma. Sweet and very powerful. The intense richness of the Kasteel meets tart juicy cherries. It’s still very sweet, and it’s not that complex - still I find myself intensely enjoying it. An unusual beer that deinitely serves a purpose. Oakes (6556), Miami Beach, Canada May 24, 2004 Burgundy-brown colour. Slight caramel aroma and lots of cherries. Fairly flat, slightly oily body. Balances nuttiness with sweet cherries. There are some interesting elements (dark malt/sweet fruit interplay) but overall I found it unexciting. argo0 (5871), Washington DC, USA May 19, 2003 (bottling date 4/01, consumed 5/03): Appearance is black cherry, no head. Aroma is strong sour cherry, yeasty, slightly cheesy. Taste is cherry that's moderately sweet and fairly limited sour, some yeast, raisin in there too, and finishing slightly astringent and more sour cherry. Medium body, pleasantly light carbonation. Alcohol well hidden. kp (5800), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Dec 12, 2007 Date: 11/24/2007

clear dark ruby red, creamy pink head, lots of speckled lace,
strong dark cherry aroma with an initial sweetness balanced by a woody tartness,
creamy body,
rich cherry flavor belnded with dark malts, plenty of fruity sweetness is balanced by a tart cherry skin character,
the intense cherry just gets to be too much after a while
