[At Dr. Bill’s afterparty after GABF 2004 - 7 years old] An unclear dark red beer with no head. The aroma is sweet and dominated by cherries. The flavor is sweet with notes of cherries and wood and an extremely dry end. Lovely.

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a beautiful clear red with a small, rough, pinkish head. Sweet cherry aroma. Medium body with very sweet notes of cherry and marzipan. No real bitterness. A bit too much on the sweet side. 290308

Bottled (as Kasteel Rouge) at Stockholm Beer Festival. Deep ruby, rich head. Concentrated cherry aroma. Sweet and very powerful. The intense richness of the Kasteel meets tart juicy cherries. It’s still very sweet, and it’s not that complex - still I find myself intensely enjoying it. An unusual beer that deinitely serves a purpose.

33 cL bottle@fonefan/Brugmansia’s Cnudde tasting. Pours dark red, clear and golden. Aroma is cherry sweet with notes of marzipan. Flavour is sweet cherry fruity with a dry note following. Marzipan sweet flavour before the finish. Ends quite dry. Slight artificial flavour yet not unpleasant.

Draught as Kasteel Rouge @ 9th Belgian Beer Weekend, Brussels. Unclear medium to dark red color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, pink head. Aroma is cherry, marzipan, sweet and light berry acidic. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration. Nice and fresh. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. ;o)) (020907)

Bottled. Rubyish brown colour with a small pinkish head. Aroma is rather sweet cherries, but at the same time some mild sour notes lurking in the background. Quite real cherries in both aroma and flavour. Except for cherries the flavour also has some sweet malts and only slight sour notes. More a sweet cherry beer than sour one, making it very refreshing.

Bottle, 8%. Very sweet cherry aroma. Very deep, dark red colour. Almost no head. Fat cherry flavour, very sweet, with a little berry bitterness. Not exactly revolting, but it seems a bit like other commercial krieks. It does not taste its ABV.
