On tap 6/30/07. Deep ruby color with short lived pink foam. Black cherry aroma with a little hint of possibly imagined oak. Flavor flirts with being too sweet but does not cross into the land of alco-pop, actually has some semblance of dryness to the finish. Better than most of the quasi-kriek and other sweetened Belgian fruit beers.

Pours ruby red with a nice foamy ruby head, that lingered all the way to the end. Aroma of oak and cherry. Flavor of cherries, no doubt with a hint of oak and chocolate. Nice lingering aftertaste of cherry/oak. Nice medium body. Not syrupy at all. Nice beer to drink on a rainy spring night. Smooth mouthfeel. Very nice beer

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2010 Drank this out of the 33cl bottle. Aroma of cherries. The taste is syrupy cherries. Thin/medium body. Overall... didn’t like it.

One of the most hedonistic fruit beers I have encountered. Amazing garnet hue with a pink tinged head. The aromas of fresh crushed cherries envelope the senses. One fights to find the beer in this elixir, it’s tough. Sweet cherries cover the tongue as a seductive acidity gives some lift to the palate. No hops at all. Cherry, cola in fact, finishes and leaves the palate with a crimson kriek stain. Amazingly balanced, the abv. is almost undetectable until the back of the throat. Hedonism at it’s best. Amazing with or as dessert. Subsitute for Ruby port. 93

Pours the color of Cherry Coke with a thin tan head. Aroma is VERY cherry - smells awesome!
This is Cherry Coke!
Taste is so close, just no carbonation. I kinda taste some pilsner malts in the finish. The bottle says ’Kasteel Rouge’; RateBeer says this is an alias. It should be called Cherry Cola. Crazy beer.

Kasteel rouge...if that is your real name. Pours a beautiful deep red with a pink head that quickly dissipates, yet never disappears. First impression is good until I give it a whiff. Strong jolly rancher fake cherry smell...not a good sign. First sip is much the same and a real put-off. Luckily, I set this down and forgot about it for awhile and came back. Much better after it warmed up quite a bit, but that fake smell never left.

In bottle. Yum!!! Delicious black cherry flavor. Would be super over ice cream, as a slushy drink, at the beach... anywhere good and happy things are happening. Enough malt to support the flavor. Dark red color with dainty pink head.

Wow! another Absolutely great Kasteel beer! I first tasted this one in some bar in Amsterdam a few months ago and I was absolutely impressed. I found a place to buy a bottle and have it home. Served in a Kasteel glass. Very beautiful cherry red colour, with wonderful ruby reflections when hold it to the light. Pinky creamy foam, like a cherrie ice cream, that last just for a second. Smells of cherries, marzipan, apple pie, bitter almonds or Amaretto. A like brandy flavor, tastes of cherries, vanilla, apricot, acid notes from the cherries, but is also sweet, nice balanced, and I find even some pepper.

33CL bottle at home, done from memory, great aroma of cherry’s almost artificial, reddish beer, taste was decent in cherries, not bad.

Red - very red, small pink head, slightly sticky lacing, sweet and a slight bit sour, bing or morello cherries - sweet so might be more like bing, very spritzy, medium bodied, long finish of sweet cherry. Very nice.
