2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Ernest (5187) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAR 23, 2002
UPDATED: OCT 19, 2007 Bottle (Kasteel Rouge). Head is initially small, fizzy, pink, fully diminishing. Body is clear dark reddish-purple. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), with a strong note of cherry. Flavor is heavily sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Medium to full body, syrupy texture, lively/soft carbonation. Syrupy sweet, but at least there is ample tartness to keep it from being too cloying. Syrupy texture and modest carbo makes it hard to drink much of, though. Very simplistic.
(Kasteel Kriek bottle rating from 2002) Head is initially small, fizzy, off-white, fully diminishing. Body is dark red, fairly dense small particles. Aroma is lightly malty (caramel), lightly yeasty (cobwebs, dough), with mild notes of cherry and red wine. Flavor is heavily sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter, short. Medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. Too sweet, and the aroma is a bit light, but it’s pretty clean and still manages to be pleasant, thanks in part to a short finish. Not really for true lambic-heads, but at least the sweetness isn’t cloying. And there is no trace of alcohol in either aroma or finish, which is pretty remarkable at the supposed 8%. (7/4/6/3/13=3.3)

Bottle, 8%. Very sweet cherry aroma. Very deep, dark red colour. Almost no head. Fat cherry flavour, very sweet, with a little berry bitterness. Not exactly revolting, but it seems a bit like other commercial krieks. It does not taste its ABV.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Jukkabro (3473) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAR 18, 2011
Deep dark red colored with little white head. Strong cherry and sweet aroma, slight warming alcohol here as well. Medium bodied. Flavor is dominated by sweet cherries as well, some sourness and bubblegum come up too.

Bottle. Marzipan and glace cherry in the aroma. Flavour is sweet, yet the relatively high alcohol of 8% seems to make the sweetness less candy-ish, and the finish is quite warming, and a little more fuller. Still, this is a bit too sweet for me.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 estpiwo (987) - ESTONIA - APR 22, 2011
Nice bottle - like champagne. Red color with rich pink foam. Aroma of cherries. Cherries in taste also, little malty tones. Some alcohol tones also. Better than almost fruit beers, but fruit beers are not my favorites.
2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 realbama (53) - Destin, Florida, USA - JUN 26, 2009
Label reads "Kasteel Rogue". Pours a cherry color and smells of cherries. Very thin pink colored head which disappears quickly. Taste is heavy on the cherry. It’s not that bad, but not that good.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 yiannnos (180) - , CYPRUS - MAR 1, 2012
Dark red colour. Smells of canned cherries. Very sweet taste with some tartness. Not a bad kriek, but not for me.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 note666 (749) - Eindhoven, NETHERLANDS - MAY 2, 2008
330 ml bottle. dark red almost brown colour. pink head. taste is very sweet cherry, like a kriek should be, but it just doesn’t do it for me ...
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 caesar (3748) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - JUN 29, 2007
Bottled, named Kasteel Rouge. Clear redbrown color, short off-white head. Aroma of cherries, some marzipan, not sweet sugary though. But aroma is of a cheap-ass kriek. Taste is very fruity of cherry, mild tart only, slight sweet, quite thick. Definitely not a lambic indeed, obvious fruit beer.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Stellaaaa (217) - Tennessee, USA - JAN 1, 2011
Pours a dark red with lots of effervescence but minimal head. It smells of cherry concentrate and sugar. It tasted like cough syrup and had a strong, chemical aftertaste. It was also fairly hot and alcoholic tasting. Overall, it tasted too artificial and medicine-y.
