Bar-none, probably the best smelling beer I’ve ever experienced, smelled and looked like melted Ludens Cough Drops. Though, that did not make for an especially pleasant beer -- seemed artificial.

A sweet fruit beer. The aroma is wonderful cherry heaven. It pours a burgundy red with a pinkish white foam. The taste leans toward wine for me, although the sour carbonation reminds that it is indeed an ale. I can typically find this beer in major grocery stores, but unlike most soulless mass produced libations, this one is a winner.

Flaska från beernavigator. Söt, stor körsbärskärnedoft, söt vinäger, alkoholvärme, men aningen för mycket sötma som ligger lite ovanför smakerna. Men doften är riktigt fin med drag av fat och sötsyrliga körsbär.

Poured at a tasting. A nice brown with a small off white head. Aroma is of cough syrup with some malts. A thicker drink, sticky with a full body. The taste is cherry but not a super fruity cherry a more alcohol cherry. Yeasty, the Belgian comes out. Out of the fruit beers I sampled this day this was my winner. Not a fan of the style but I will buy this in the summer. Enjoyed.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Aroma of cherries. Flavour is sweet cherries, candy-like. Too much sweetness, no sourness at all so I am not a fan of this beer. Artificial flavour. However, seeing that this is both a Kasteel beer and a cherry beer, I was just a little surprised at how easily drinkable it was. Still, this is far from what I consider my kind of beer.

Een lekker bier dat gemaakt is van Kasteel Donker en kersenlikeur. Een bijzonder bier, met een krachtige smaak.

Delicious. Obvious cherry notes. It is sweet and light. Very easy to drink Belgian style. Inspired my currently attempt at a Belgian with cherry notes

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from 330 ml bottle at Manakin Pis restaurant in Olney, MD.
Clear, dark rosewood color with a small tan head and good lacing.
Aroma of wild cherries and sweet roasted malt.
Taste of intense wild cherry, sweet roasted malt, light caramel and mild raspberry with enough tartness to keep it interesting.
Medium body and medium carbonation.
This is a fine tasting beer--if you can set aside the childhood memories of cough syrup that it invokes. It's more like Ludens than Robitussin at least.

Bottle @home. Pours amber with white foam that is quickly gone. When you open the bottle you immediately get this artificial cherish smell. Taste is cherries (artificial), some sweetness and a little sour touch. Easy drinkable for it’s 8%.
