Pours mahogany-red. Brilliantly clear. Tan 1.5 inch head that quickly dissipates to 1/8 inch. tan. The nose has distinct sweet-cherry notes. Moderate-to-light carbonation. Very modest Belgian lace. Medium-light body. Nicely restrained fruit with bitter notes (hops and cherry pits?). The ABV is not evident on the palate. Well-balanced, delicious ale. Lingers pleasantly. Bitter, palate cleansing notes are evident in the finish.

330ml bottle from Les Crepes de Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours a deep blood red. Luscious, plump juicy cherries pretty much encapsulate this beer without overpowering or becoming too sweet. I wouldn’t normally go for a fruit beer like this, and haven’t been too keen on other Kasteel beers, but they seem to have nailed this one, perfectly blended and full of taste.

mikkellund42 (494) - DENMARK - APR 7, 2014
Bottle. Aroma is almost entirely dominated by cherries with notes of cherry cola, ginger ale, cherry chewing gum and cherry wine. Taste is medium to heavy sweet, medium bitter and light to medium acidic. Body is oily with fizzy carbonation. Finish is long and sweet and dominated by cherry. Overall: too much cherry. Maybe good with desert?

Bottle, pours a dark red, with a light red/pinkish head, the cherry aroma is very noticeable and dominates the taste. It’s okay.

Nose is equivalent to a cherry cough drop - tart and alcoholic. Dark red color, foamy pink head. Tart candied sweetness that is unfamiliar to the beer drinkers palate. Cloying and sticky. Makes me briefly reconsider my aversion to fruit juice.

33 cl. best by 07 2015. Deep ruby color with a sizzling head that quickly settles to a sticky ring of cream. Nose is sweet dark cherry candy. Flavor is similar, but thankfully less sweet and exhibits a more tart and spicy quality that better represents the skin and pulp of the fruit, and not just the sweet juice. Some faint notes of unsweetened cocoa help to tame the sweetness as well. Light-medium body is highly carbonated which I normally dislike. However it suits this refreshing but sweet fruit beer, and teams with the slight acidity of the cherry to sweep the palate fairly well. I got just a very faint hint of the 8%.

stravale (1900) - Near Carrick-on-Shannon, IRELAND - MAR 24, 2014
Bottle @ The Wick at Both Ends, Sheffield [200314]
Served in the authetic glass, dark ruby, light thin reddish off white head
Aroma of strong cherry, Swizzel Matlow cherry boiled sweets, slightly medicinal, very strong cherry
Taste of cherry sweets, tunes without the menthol ,big sweet cherry - trouble is i’m not a fan of the cherry flavour
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, big sweet palate, no bitterness. Finish is cherry, cherry, cherry
Overall - If you like cherries, you’ll like this. I just don’t like cherries

Dark reddish, top disappears immediately unfortunately. Nice acidity to compensate for the sweet cherry taste, good body too. Medium finish with acidity and fruit, not sticky. Well done.

A sweet fruit beer. The aroma is wonderful cherry heaven. It pours a burgundy red with a pinkish white foam. The taste leans toward wine for me, although the sour carbonation reminds that it is indeed an ale. I can typically find this beer in major grocery stores, but unlike most soulless mass produced libations, this one is a winner.
