Kasteel Winter is a unique departure from the standard Christmas ales known for their potpourri of cinnamon and clove. In fact, it stands alone as one of the most decadent and elegant Quadruples of Belgium in its own right. This 11% ABV beer pours a Chestnut brown with an off-white head. The nose is rich, with a warming scent of Coffee, Toffee, and Dried Fruits. The mouthfeel is rich and sweet like that of melted candy. The key ingredients to this delicacy is Belgian Chocolate and Coffee...noteworthy phrases in any brewers handbook. All of these elements come together to provide an after taste reminiscent of a tootsie roll.

Pici, tömör és gyorsan elillanó habocska. Sötétbarna, vöröses árnyalatú. Illata erős kávéillat, gyümölcsös, alkoholos mellékzöngékkel. Intenzív kávés ízvilág, a maga kesernyés, kissé savanykás vonásaival, gyümölcsös mellékízzel. Iszonyúan jó, nagyon finom, szenzációs sör! Rendkívül testes. Hosszú utóízét is a pörkölt jelleg uralja, jelzés értékű édes, és savanyú érzettel.

Bottle as Barista Chocolate Quad. Brown beer, small pale tan head. Nose is sweet, cocoa dust, dried fruit notes mixed with coffee, roast, alcohol warmth, spicy notes. Flavor is sweet, coffee notes with more cocoa dust, some milk chocolate. Finish is warm, not exactly boozy, but warm; vanilla notes, roast, sweet notes. Not getting the "barista" angle on this, but the "chocolate quad" makes sense, cocoa dust sweetness is pretty nice.

Apr. ’16. A 0.33 l bottle, as Barista Chocolate Stout. It poured a clear brown with almost no head. Sweet aroma, cocoa, sugar, tobacco. Flavor was sweet, a bit too much. Had some fine chocolate notes though. Sugary, caramel, spicy with cinnamon. Also sour, which was even more notable in the finish, too, where it was also quite alcoholic besides sticky caramel and sugary sweetness. Quite a weird beer, but I didn’t like it anyhow. Even if I think I got the bad batch, it was still way too sweet.
