Kasteel Winter is a unique departure from the standard Christmas ales known for their potpourri of cinnamon and clove. In fact, it stands alone as one of the most decadent and elegant Quadruples of Belgium in its own right. This 11% ABV beer pours a Chestnut brown with an off-white head. The nose is rich, with a warming scent of Coffee, Toffee, and Dried Fruits. The mouthfeel is rich and sweet like that of melted candy. The key ingredients to this delicacy is Belgian Chocolate and Coffee...noteworthy phrases in any brewers handbook. All of these elements come together to provide an after taste reminiscent of a tootsie roll.

Pours a dark brown and clear beer with a thin off-white head. Aroma is of tootsie roll and roasted coffee. Starts off with a coffee/chocolate/tootsie roll flavor. Acidity and sweetness follows transitioning into a dry finish with lingering roast coffee. Medium-full body with low carbonation and a lingering alcohol heat. Overall: Im not a huge fan of coffee beers, but this one is exceptionally balanced and a great flavored winter sipping beer.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, very thin tan lacing. Very pleasing aroma of dark fruits, chocolate, and toffee. Very sweet taste, chocolate flavor comes through quite prominently. Medium body, thin texture, lively carbonation but not over-carbonated. Finishes with a nice warming sensation, and tootsie roll flavor as advertised. Very enjoyable and unique Belgian strong ale.

This is great stuff. I had it on the Kerst- en Winterbierenfestival at De Kleine Deugniet (Alkmaar, NL) and it was the revelation of that festival. Coffee, caramel, chocolate. "Haagse Hopjes", for the Dutch readers. Perfect beer for winter evenings.

Bottle of 75cl, in a Kasteel glass; from the fridge. Good aroma and taste of coffee, chocolate and tofee, but its so fake... You know, like candies... But appart of that, its a great beer, nice deep brown colour, hot palate. Shes a good one if you like coffee/candy beer, but too sweet for me... Try it !

Bomber form Supermarket Liquors. Appearance: finger tan head that does not last, copper to brown color, opaque to lightly cloudy, light lacing. Aroma: raisins, chocolate, caramel, cherry. Palate: medium full body, dry finish, light alcohol, average soft carbonation. Taste: sweet caramel and fruitiness, going into harder molasses sweetness and light roast chocolate, finish is slightly boozy and give the roast chocolate sweetness a light warming sensation. Overall, crazy complex, lovely balance, a new top beer for me. Huge fan.
