Clear dark brown color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, coffee, chocolate beans. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, chocolate beans, coffee, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft - fizzy, finish feel is light alcoholic.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled (from Alko Prisma, Vaasa). Very deep coppery colour with a mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is coffee and chocolate. Not much else. And the same goes for the flavour. A surprisingly big coffee beer for being Belgian, but over this I would take the brune/bruin any day.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
18th January 2014
Almost opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Sweet malts, light floralness. Toffee streak and something vaguely like cheap chocolate. Little spice. Light semi dry finish brings mild marmite. Lots of flavour here but I could not drink much of this, gets chewy.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Corked bottle. Dark brown color. Hints of roast, caramel and chocolate in the aroma. Malt, cacao, caramel and hopjesvla in the sweet, almost overly sweet flavor. Sticky and alcoholic.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
UPDATED: NOV 17, 2014 330ml bottle (Alko, Helsinki) - gift from mjs - thanks! (5:4:3:1:7=2.0)
Cheap instant coffee aroma, some chocolate too. Nice dark brown, persistent tan head. Nasty chemical flavourings. Some sourness accompanies the sweetness, which is quite high. Coffee is stale. On swallowing, I get a wave of salivation which I know is an instinctive vomit precursor. Baaaaaaad. However, this does cover the alcohol very well. Bumping overall from 6 to 7 because of that.
Rerate: 330ml bottle (Alko, Tampere) (3:3+:4:2:6=)
Cheap Irish coffee aroma, cheap coffee, and hot alcohol. Taste messy sweet stale coffee. Sweet stodgy malts, rich and heavy, coffee again, but better Nope.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
from Au Grain d’Orge, Crissier - pours a clear brodeaux-brown beer with a moderate head retention; strong aroma of mocha, figs and toasted malts; full-bodied and solidly sweet, a fair carbonation, residual sugars in a long coffeish finish with more notes of dried fruits and caramel

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Sampled from bottle @ Cafe Vingerhoeds, Oirschot. Nice deep dark brown color with a deep dark red glow coming through, small to medium sized beige head. Aroma unfortunately has a bit of ’hopjesvla’ and herbs or spices I absolutely dislike. Tastes like that as well, but fortunately not as much as the aroma suggested. Also get vanilla and heavy mocha. All in all quite heavy. A slow drinker. Noy my kind of beer unfortunately.
