2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Fris, typisch blond aroma. Gelige kleur. Fijn palet, beetje citrus-achtige smaak, die snel weer uit de mond verdwijnt. Geen hoogstaand bier.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours clear and golden. Not a strong aroma. Taste is slightly sweet with a bitter aftertaste. Nice refreshing beer that isn’t going to knock you out after three or four"

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear, pale color with generous white head. Smell is quite clean for a belgian ale, just a bit of yeast presence. Taste follows the nose with a strong lager feel and a bitter finish. Quite good overall but not an accurate representation of its style.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
330 ml bottle bought at CitySuper in Habour City, Tsim Sha Tsui.
Clear golden pale amber colour; Less than one-quarter finger head with residual soapy white foam which fades in 10 seconds; Very good sticky lacing with slight carbonation; Fragrant aroma of malt, with ripe banana, light vanilla, orange, strong caramel, sugar, light floral blossom, spices, Bel yeast, light lemon and fiant grass; Close to medium sweet taste of fairly light malt, with caramel, light banana, faint toffee, molasses, spices, light earth, light Bel yeast, light lemon, very light bitter hops and light grass; Mid to light body. Slick palate; Mouth feel is Pils-based, fairly light maltyness in a thick and rather empty body. No yeast in the bottle means minimal fruitiness, some banana chips and that’s it. Caramel dominates, with notable spices and light earth to compliment the molasses. Easy but boring… Hoppiness is light floral, spices, light lemon and light grass nose and taste. Bitterness is minimal for an abrupt, patchy low-fi bitter finish; Slightly dry after taste. Fairly Malty and light-spicy to mouth.
Comments: I really run out of words to describe how boring this one is. Well after having other intense Kasteel stuff like the Tripel, Cuvee, and Donker, this Belgian Ale-like 7% is an anti-climax - Refreshing aside, it has no yeast, no head, empty maltyness, woefully short of esters tastes and hops. Slightly better than most macro Belgian Ales, but I do expect a lot more from Kasteel so this one’s a bore.
