An unequalled beer, at the top of the Kasteel spectrum. The aroma and flavour of Cuvée are those of a Kasteel Donker, that aged 10 years in the cellars of the castle, noble and strong.

Tap at Gollem. It pours deep brown with a large beige head. The nose is earth, berry, dark fruit, candyfloss, faint tartness, caramel and wood. The taste is dark fruit, berry, subtle, tartness, earth, wood, dust, caramel, farmyard and light mouldiness with a dry finish. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. Good depth of flavour, smooth and well balanced.

Totally slays the donker. Comes off not as sweet and with an oud bruin aspect?

75cl bottle. Appearance: dark brown beer, unstable beige head. Nose: port, madeira, caramel, all factors indicating an aged beer. Taste: caramel, malts, somewhat fruits as well. Once tasted this next to a 7 year old Kasteelbier Donker, and it’s true what they claim! This beer is a very nice representation of an aged beer.

Bottle. Hazy nut brown body with a fairly anemic head. Aroma is very bready, which I absolutely love. Bready yeast permeates a palate full of brown sugar, dates, molasses cake, and a subtle rummy note. Smooth, soft mouthfeel, sweet but not cloying. The ABV is not at all intrusive, but is instead warming and pleasant. I liked this much more than I’d anticipated.

marked 2011, pours clear dark brown with tan fizzy foam. Aroma of bubblegum, candied date, prune, plum. Lighter in body than anticipated, and also lighter in carbonation. Flavor is sweet dark fruit, with warm oak notes. Pretty nice.

Sample at the Secret Stash Bash. Dark brown color, with a medium, tan head. Caramel and oak aroma, with some cherries and dark fruits. Very sweet flavor, and a little tart. Medium body, silky feel, and a little sticky. Overall, this is a nice, complex ale, but lacks complexity.

750, corked, baled, foiled, and collared. 2010, opened in 2013. Very attractive presentation. Pours a murky, grainy dark brown with a dense and creamy but very short-lived light tan head. Big sweet graham cracker, molasses, and light prune nose. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Graham crackers, prunes, and molasses on the mid palate. Long sweetish finish.
