An unequalled beer, at the top of the Kasteel spectrum. The aroma and flavour of Cuvée are those of a Kasteel Donker, that aged 10 years in the cellars of the castle, noble and strong.

Dark brown hazy pour with medium beige head. Wet dog like smell and mix of red fruits and berries. Cherry’s the boss. Big cherry taste, almost like a heavy Red wine too. Really dry winelike mouthfeel. This is a good one for cold winter nights with strong massive blue cheeses. Or if you can’t decide what to have. ....wine or beer.

Bottle from Mam and Dad’s Holiday, Belgium. A very dark brown beer with chocolate and caramel flavours, floral notes, sherbet and a sweet zesty fruity finish.

Bottle. Poured a maple syrup like color. Thin head. Cloudy. Strong aroma of cherries, raisin, Belgium candy, dried fruits. Medium sweetness. A bit of warming alcohol. Lightly carbonated. Medium bodied. A sipper. Good stuff.

11.2oz bottle (2010) - brown with thin khaki head. Nose is dark fruit, booze, sugar and herbal. Sip adds candy sugar. Really sweet and a tad tart. Nutty aftertaste prolly due to age, along with wood or cherry. Glad I tried it and would have loved a larger bottle. Leaf shards at the bottom. Yum and warming.

dark brown colour, surprisingly tall beige head; aroma of roasted sugar and malt, some yeast, apple and alcohol; taste of roasted malt and candy sugar with some fruitness and too intensive and unballanced alcohol; very far from the best belgian ales

Keg at Nota Bene in the correct glassware. Funny how that helps. Pours a muddy Brown with a cream head. Aroma of candied fruits and caramel. Quite delicate though. The flavour has some Belgian yeast character with pruney, raisiny sweetness nd some milk chocolate. The booze is warming. The brew is a slight let-down but still very nice.

750 corked and caged bottle. Pours a medium, well retained light beige head, with some lacing, over a clear ruby red (SRM 20) body.....nose is light toffee/caramel, loads of dried fruits, including cherry, plum, then cola, cinnamon, all from the malts and esters, minimal hop presence.....taste is sweet to start, with cherry, plum, more present, then vanilla, cinnamon tones arrive, followed by cocoa, then a light spice hop bitterness to finish, remaining sweet throughout.....mouth feel light, alcohol warmth present (no fusels), carbonation low on fizz, but with a light carbonic acid finish. The balance on this beer is to the malts and esters, with the hops adding a bit of balance. The complexity is quite good in both aromas and flavors. I would prefer a drier more digestible beer. The sweet dominates too much. BJCP 9/3/14/4/7
