COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
According to the brewer, this is brewed to mimic the flavor of aged Kasteelbier Donker. The brewer refutes the rumors that this is simply 10-year-old Donker. ADMINS: Do not alias this beer

0.33 cL from Groton Connivence store. Served in a brandy snifter. A - Pours an incredibly dark brown, almost black. Head is a light copper. Head dissipates fairly quickly. Ar - Rich and sweet, almost like a liquor (brandy?) but with dried plum hints. T - Very nice strong dark ale. On the sweeter side with very well balanced malts. Sweet dark fruit follows through in the finish with a tad bit of tart/sourness in the aftertaste. D - Definitely worth drinking/sipping slowly as flavors become more pronounced as the beer warms up.

2010 (04/2010) Bottle. Pours with a deep brown (mahogany) body with a large and lively tan head. Great massive belgian lace on the side of the glass, head is fully lasting. Aromas of dark fruits, toffee, madeira, sherry, candied orange, winter pudding, light mint and grape. Prunes and leather. Flavors are very malty, and lots of sherry, dark fruits, oxidation, brandy, burgundy, dark fruits, dried dates, plums. Damp earth. Light cork notes. Very rich. Lively and creamy. Very well hidden alcohol. Quite tasty.

29th November 2010.
On tap at De Bekeerde Suster, Amsterdam. Very dark brown beer, massive tan head. Licorice and a little toffee. A dash of cream and some aniseed and spice. Whisper of tangy fruit. Not bad but as usual with the Kasteel beers I was left underwhelmed.

PorterPounder (4610) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - DEC 3, 2010
Tallahassee, Fl - New Leaf Market - stubby 11.2 oz bottle. Dark brown pour with a quickly fading off-white head. Aroma had some licorice accents, a touch of brandy. Flavor is full-bodied and rich. The same licorice in the aroma makes its way into the flavor backed up by some rich toffee, a hint of chocolate and a back end of molasses. Mouthfeel is syrupy and thick. Good winter warmer.

Damico (1914) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 2, 2010
On tap at Monks as Cuvee du Chateau, it has a dark black color with a ruby copper inflection and a decent head. The aroma is minimal, crying for notes of sweet carmel. However, the sweet delicious caramel flavors they were hoping for settle smoothly and delicious on the palate with a bit of funk on the back end.
