An unequalled beer, at the top of the Kasteel spectrum. The aroma and flavour of Cuvée are those of a Kasteel Donker, that aged 10 years in the cellars of the castle, noble and strong.

UPDATED: JUN 28, 2014 Bottle 33 cl. Pours a dark brown/opaque with a tiny and fading beige head and an aroma of sweet malts, toffee, raisins, cacao and herbs. The taste is pretty sweet and a tad alcoholic, with mostly heavy malts, but also candy sugar, overripe fruits and some bubblegum. Almost no bitterness in the finish, mainly sweet but not sticky.

Dark colour with creamy thick head. >Smell is wood, molassess, sweet, but I expected more. Taste too, with some licorice maybe. Alcohol burn after a while. I expected definetely more complexity from such an aged beer. A bit disappointing for me.

Where and how: bottle 750 ml at Bar Volo
Aroma vinous, strong barrel like feel. Champagne like aroma with somewhat malty sides. Hints of vanilla on dry alcohol.
Appearance : 3+
Top: lighter beige cap .
Base: dark amber, touch of brown.
Palate : medium bodied with dry finish.
Taste: vanilla, anise, caramel candy like died with alcohol. Touch of cherry and other fruits.
Other notes interesting uncommon brew.

Squat little 2012 vintage 33cl bottle pours with a mahogany colored body that supports a short lived tan head of foam. The aroma offers up plums and brown sugar and dates and molasses and a bit of black pepper booze. The taste is big and just a dash rough around the edges. I get dark brown sugar, molasses, sugar stewed plums and dates. It then picks up a bit of dark cherries and then into black pepper, a sliver of ginger and spicy black strap molasses. This has room to improve with age. I like it now but another couple of years may make this pretty darn tasty.
