3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 75cl corked. An unclear, brown body is topped by a fingerthick beige head. The aroma has dried fruits, mostly raisins, caramel, alcohol and something herbal. Pleasant but not impressive. The same goes for the flavor, it’s mostly dried fruits here as well, and some caramel and alcohol fighting to be noticed. It’s warming, full-bodiedand effervescent on the palate, with the dried fruits and caramel lasting for a good while. Overall, sure a nice one, but a tad too warming I think. 130508

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle@Home, Vintage 2010. Raisin, malts aroma. Dark brown, light brown head, good lace. Sweet, raisin, laurel, liquorice. Pretty alcoholic. Actually it tastes like some kind of spirit was added to the beer. I’d say different brew from the regular Kasteel Bruin but then again, I’m not very familiar with that one.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
From tap @ Brouwerij in Lanaken. Dark brown with a ruby glance, beige head, disappearing. Presented in a nice chateau glass. Nose: spices, vanilla, alcohol, liqueur, candi sugar, some chemical touch, minerals, earthy. Taste: caramel, dark chocolate, spices, sweet finish. Alcoholic, bit carbonated, has got some punch, but missing on something, the parts does not match the whole. Overall good beer, the warming of the alcohol kicks in (ok not that surprising) after some time. good beer.

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2014 2012 edition, date of drinking 15-12-2013. Pours a dark reddish brown with an off-white head. Aroma of sweet dark malt, dark fruits, plum, raisins, some chocolate. On the sweet side, mild finish. Best Kasteel beer I’ve had, proof that they can do it right.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
330ml bottle, poured into Kasteel chalice. A: Very dark in colour, opaque, tiny disappearing tanned head, some lacing. S: Tawny port like, plum, booze and fruity esters. T: More bitter than the "Kasteel Donker" mellowed throughout, hints of plum, brown sugar, fudge. Finish dominated by boozy burn. M: Smooth, moderate carbonation, medium to thick body. O: I would say, aside from the bitterness, it was barely distinguishable from the "Donker". If it qualifies as a Quadruple, it doesn’t quite hit the heights others do.
