An unequalled beer, at the top of the Kasteel spectrum. The aroma and flavour of Cuvée are those of a Kasteel Donker, that aged 10 years in the cellars of the castle, noble and strong.

Black transparent beer, weak head, light carbonation. Smell is banana, coriander (almost like a weisen??) mixed with caramel and a touch of alcohol. Taste is sweet bitter sour. Alcohol dominates too much. It kills the taste and the balance. Raisins, some hoppiness, but it all degenerates into sour alcohol.

33 cl bottle from Drink d’Annevoie, BE - Cuvée 2012. Clear medium to dark amber color with a very small short lasting head. Aroma: roasted malt, dark fruits, chocolate. Flavor: moderate to heavy sweet, light to moderate bitter with a long finish of warming alcohol. A nice one!

tubby 11.2 oz bottle picked up at Brewer’s Haven.. Bottled on 5/29/13... Enjoyed about 21 months later from a large bulb goblet.. 1 finger head rises up and dies back pretty quickly leaving no lacing and no real cap.. the brew is deep dark walnut. Thick malty nose leans heavily on the dark raisins.. boozy with warmth, burns the eyes a bit.. Spicy yeasty phenols make me think clove first and pepper second.. Esters are raisin with dark cherries.. a bit of oxidation. Flavor is hot and a little thin, the beer drops off the tongue quickly.. leaving fizzy raisin alcohol.. Okay.. The carbonation scrubs the flavor very fast, but if you try, there is some fruity esters and plenty of spicy phenols.. Very burpy.. Sharp alcohol... Seems a pretty big mess at this point IMO.

2012 bottle. Very dark brown with a beige head that’s soon at the rim. Aroma of dried fruit - prunes, figs, banana, cherries, raisins - toffee, spices. A bit Porty. Lowish carbonation, only a bit syrupy. Very sweet with complex fruit, a bit of roasty acidity keeps things more or less in check, particularly at the end. Heavy and rich but not overtly boozy. Lots of interesting dried and stewed fruit things going on, but there are beers that have that that are too easy to drink. Pretty good; like another with a couple more years on it.

Bomber from WIlbur’s; 2013 Vintage. Appearance: slight tan head, ruby red to brown, cloudy, alcohol, plum, light cherry, light caramel, palate: medium, thin, alcohol warming, soft. Taste: sweet plum and cherry, light caramel, very mellow sweetness, into alcohol thinness and grunt. Very smooth, alcohol is well hidden, aging has toned down sweetness significantly, very enjoyable!

Pours a clear dark brown color, topped with a rather small beige head, and not much carbonation. Malty aroma, some caramel and fruity nose. Taste starts sweet and caramel, noticeable alcohol and some yeasty notes as well. Doesn’t really work for me. Too strong and malty.

Aroma: intense caramel, sugars, ripe, dried, dark fruits. Appearance: clear, dark brown, small, beige, creamy head. Taste: medium sweet. Palate: sweets continue, heavy dried, dark fruits, caramel and toffee malts, long duration, full body, medium carbonation, slightly dry finish. Overall: very nice Belgian Strong Ale, fantastic aroma and palate. Bottle from Beers of Europe, Kings Lynn.
