33 cl bottle (2012). Unclear deep dark brown with a medium sized beige head, which leaves a thin film behind. Dried fruity aroma ruled by raisin and plum escorted by citrusses, caramel, chocolate and alcohol. Syrupy, slick texture. Long and tart finish with dark chocolate, spices and liqueur. Fine as expected.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours dark brown with a thin off white head. Taste dark fruit, plums sweet. I thought this was pretty good. I would drink again. My official 1000th beer at Global Brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear deep mahogany, near black in glass, thin foggy off-white head. Sweet and fruity, belgian yeast, over-ripe fruits, banana, apple, also malt, raisins, alcohol mostly hidden. Warming up brings chocolate. Soft but lively carbonation, sweet, dries bit to finish which is long and fruity. Tasty, very long finish.

Bottle at pm. Black colour, no head. Nose is alcohol, with some roasted notes. Taste is low bitterness. Alcohol is dominant in the mouthfeel. Nice, but rememberd much better. Might be the fact that it was one of the first belgian beers I’ve ever had.

Appearance: clear deep ruby with one finger of fizzy light beige head diminishing gradually to a thin skim, patchy lacing. (4/5) Aroma: dark dried fruit, caramel/toffee, bready yeast, leather, spices. (8/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, moderate bitter, light tart. (7/10) Medium-light body, lively carbonation, lingering boozy finish. (4/5) I wasn’t completely convinced by this one at first. I think my ultimate objection is that the body really seems too thin and light for the flavours and the very high ABV, and that’s not really helped a lot by the lively carbonation that remains throughout. Don’t get me wrong: it’s quite pleasant as it is, and the high ABV, though present, is never overwhelming or intrusive, but I can’t help feeling like it would have been more appropriate had the body been a bit heavier, and the carbonation a bit softer. On the other hand, it’s very Belgian in flavour, and drinking it transports me back to the little side streets of Brugge, or off Grand-Place in Brussels. The flavours open as it warms, making it enjoyable to sip and linger over. (16/20)

PapaVillum (833) - Valby, DENMARK - MAY 31, 2016
Sødmen står stærkere i smagsbilledet længere henne i aftempereringen. 75 cl, flaske, 11.0 % ABV, version 2015, BB: 20/08/2020, købt i Den Belgiske Ølbutik i Vanløse. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle from Saveur Biére - Deep ruby, thin white head. Nose is a boozy Christmas cake, loads of fruit, malt and caramel. Taste is helped by a nice oily rich mouthfeel, warming on the way down. Very rich, very indulgent.

Bottle from de Bierschuur in Poppel. The beer is dark brown colored and has a large cream colored head, with nice carbonation. In the aroma tones of roasted malts, with fruity notes of plums and raisins. It reminds me of port. In the taste the sweetness of syrup, raisin and caramel is clearly present but gets more counterbalance from the roasted mild accents and the chocolate. The finish is mild and spicy with hints of nutmeg and anice.

0,75l bottle, Känguruh pub Vienna. Sweet, caramel, cake and slightly alcoholic aroma. Dark red/black color with a nice creamy head. Sweet, cake, caramel taste with overwhelming finish. Don’t try to drink it on hot sunny day.
