gmonroe10 (172), Netherlands Jan 23, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark brown, very little head. Nose is not too distinct, slightly sweet and toffee, as well as smells of alcohol a bit. Taste is very sweet, and complex, with bitterness coming in the middle before returning to a sweet finish. Nice complex beer, too sweet for me. ansermadide (496), Kyle, Texas, USA Jan 19, 2009 Split bottle with fatboy on January 16, 2009. Dark brown color with red hues. Clean body, nice light brown head. Banana/spice aroma with yeast. Not as caramelly as most Belgian brunes I’ve had... much more sour. Very sweet - cherry, molasses. Slick and thick going down. Leaves a sweet and sticky residue on the lips. Best enjoyed when warmed up a little... TheBeerOrg (1563), Kentucky, USA Jan 14, 2009 Pours dark brown with reddish hues and a fully receding tan head. Aroma of higher alcohols, esters, bubble gum, pineapple, brown sugar. Mouthfeel is heavy with lush carbonation. grandgenie (252), gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jan 13, 2009 Dégusté avec french tickler le 16 octobre 2006.
I had to buy a case of this gem... Very sweet subtile aromas, Caramel / toffee... Exploding sweet complexe flavors hard to pinpoint exactly ... There’s the obvious taste of alcohol in this 11% brown beauty but it doesn’t over power... Fanstaticly well balanced beer!
