jbuzz (658), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Apr 21, 2008 A tasting at Three Cellars Milwaukee. I found this to be too sweet. With nice carbonation, raisin flavor, caramel, maple syrup. Still not bad. note666 (282), Eindhoven, Netherlands Apr 18, 2008 Updated: May 30, 2009330 ml bottle. 11% !! nice dark brown coloured beer. very nice, not to sweet full bodied taste. RomanW70 (297), Providence, Rhode Island, USA Apr 17, 2008 On tap at Pitcher’s Pub in Cumberland, RI. Pours dark brown. Nice aroma of dark fruits, brown sugar, and a hint of alcohol. Flavor of dark fruits and brown suagr with a warming alcohol finish. Has a very vneous quality, Quite tasty, but very sweet, which is a little distracting. Underneath the sweetness is a beer with a loy of complexity. I enjoyed the beer, but it’s defintely not an everyday beer. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Apr 15, 2008 Pours dark ruby/mohogany with a small off white head. Fairly heavy and sweet on the palate, a bit more carbonation would lend some more esters and make it a bit less syrupy. Big raisin flavor, caramel, fake maple syrup, and coffee cake. Not a bad beer, but overall a bit sweet and lightly cloying in the finish. kiefdog (1534), Tampa, Florida, USA Apr 13, 2008 750ml bottle from Total Wine Tampa. Pours a dark, chocolatey brown with a thin tan head that dissipates quickly. Smells sweet and malty; hints of toffee and caramel. Flavor: Sweet and full-bodied, has a pleasing sweet, slightly sour finish. Tastes of malt, caramel, molasses. Hints of chocolate, maple, and root beer on subsequent tastes. gowdy (155), Ferney-Voltaire, France Apr 11, 2008 Bottle at home. caramel, roasty, resin, brown, clear, frothy, medium bitterness, light sweetness, medium body, sticky, average carbonation, heavy (805), Split, Croatia Apr 8, 2008 05/04 0.33 l at Hopdevil, Zagreb. Poured dark brown body with small head that didn’t stay out half a minute. Sweet malty aroma, roasted sugar, some black cherries and berries, nice enough. Flavor also good, but too simple and ordinary, caramelized sugar hides all that alcohol in very rustical way. Nothing more. Full bodied of course. Finish is nice long and pleasant. A good beer but could be better for that what it is. BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Apr 7, 2008 Very rich dark Belgian strong ale. Bite is extraordinary. Flavors are malty with caramel, apricot, and brown sugar apparent. Acquired in bottle at my local GrillSmith restaurant.
