Rune (2744), Tromsø, Norway Apr 7, 2008 330ml bottle, 2005 vintage. Ruby-brown body with a slight haze. Two-finger, beige foam slowly fading. Sour cherries in aroma offset by sweet almonds. My mouthfeel says oversweet in spite of acid plums and spicy fruits. The alcohol strength is noticeable, but mostly covered by all the candy sweetness. Short aftertaste (03.04.2008). jobyone (234), Charlotte, USA Apr 5, 2008 Pours dark red with off white head. The aroma is very sweet. The taste is sweet and full of Alcohol. beer lacks balance but is very flavorable as long as you like sweet. gotbeach (128), San Diego, California, USA Mar 31, 2008 Draft. Pours dark brown with a diminishing head. Spicy yeast aroma. Sour cherries, plum, and some alcohol with good carbination make this a smooth beer to drink. You get a bit of the 11% at the end. austone (998), Turku; Pori, Finland Mar 29, 2008 Dark ruby brown, lacing beige head. Strongly alcoholic aroma, sweet malts and liqueur. Flavor is sweet with dark fruits and cherry/almond liqueurs. Finishes with lingering, port like soft tannins and some hop bitterness. Medium bodied and sticky palate. Very rich in flavors, but all that alcohol is a bit over the top for me. Tranquillity (1165), Espoo, Finland Mar 24, 2008 Bottle. Warm, subtle honey-malt aroma. Not very special. But the taste! It wows me with its initial strong, sweet toffee flavour, the bitterness that quickly and sturdly spreads around the palate and the warming sweetness when swallowing. The finish is extremely long and bitter, chocolatey and even a bit smokey. But the delight doesn’t end there; the next sip only has to be a couple of drops big to initiate the explosion of flavours that makes me want to thank god there’s so many drops in a bottle.... Ingy (100), candler, North Carolina, USA Mar 23, 2008 bottle, dark brown with small persistent head. BIG taste of banana pudding, dark fruits, caramel, chocolate, raisins, molasses. Strong alcohol taste as well. A real mouthful. goldtwins (4078), Nesconset, New York, USA Mar 22, 2008 Poured a clear mahogany color with a medium sized beige head. Estery fruity aroma with some alcohol fumes. Some milk chocolate and cherry in the nose as well. Browned fruits and a fair amount of sugary sweetness. Semi-sweet finish with a hint of bitterness and good warmth. medium to full bodied. ILoveNewBeer (113), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Mar 19, 2008 The head that it produces goes down pretty quick. It has a fruity almost champagne wiff to it at first. All in all a really good beer from Belgium.
Goes well with corned beef and cabbage on St. Patty’s Day.
