Smell is spicy and has a pepper smell. Very little flowery smells, with small traces of cloves, nutmeg, burnt sugar and dark fruit.
Sweet and spicy, I really enjoyed the taste. Burnt sugar is thick and overpowering with flavor. Dark fruit, grape taste.
Mouthfeel is creamy and carbonated, pretty smooth.
I would love to drink more of this beer if it was in my area, I would go looking for it. jbean (110), Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Bottle. Pours deep ruby with almost no head, fine lacing, but does not last very long. Aroma is sweet, and the alcohol is noticable. Flavor is very sweet with a slight alcohol burn. For some reason it is very pleasant. Raisins, plums, brown sugar, alcohol and spice. Delicious and warming. Makes a great beer for a cold winter day. mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 18, 2007 Bottle from South Bay. Dark ruby in color upon pouring. Slightly sweet aroma with dark roasted maltiness. Somewhat vinous. Sweet dark fruit start of the flavor. Full flavored malts. Good fruitiness with a rich maltiness. Some alcohol. Bottled in March. yngwie (4905), Kristiansand, Norway
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 18, 2007 Bottle,33cl. Pours a clear-looking, ruby brown with a medium-sized, dense, beige head leaving nice lacings. The aroma is lovely, with some alcohol to follow the dried fruits, a note of dark cherries, a little sugary note and some spicyness. There’s also some hops and a hint of coffee in the far background. I really like it, but still I fell I miss something. Don’t know what though. The flavor starts quite sugary, maybe too sugary, with dried fruits playing a major part, as well as bitterness, a cherry-like note and some spices. And alcohol of course. It is quite full-bodied, but still easy to drink, but of course, the warming feeling send a warning not to drink too much of it. It finishes with alcohol, dried fruits, hints of spices and a weak bitterness. Sure a delicious beer worth repeating. Unfortunately my last bottle... (071218( Scauca (409), Lovere, Italy
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 18, 2007 Nice dark brown, almost black, appearance, with a creamy disappearing tan head. Quite strong notes of over ripe fruits, malty sweetness, but not that clean. Slight buttery notes and ethilic waves punches nose as it warms in its horrible original glass. Very complex in mouth but way too sweet for me. wcampbell (576), Central, South Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Dec 12, 2007 Interesting beer. Tastes like sweet dark fruit and a little bit of spices. Light, slightly alcoholic finish. Smooth, full bodied, and lightly carbonated. Tastes like a sweet port wine. Complex taste. TrefwoordPunk (548), Leiden, Netherlands
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 11, 2007 Bottle 33 cl. Pours a very dark amberish brown with a small tan head and a thin smell of malts. Taste is mostly sweet, really it is too sweet, lots of honey and candy sugar. Some malts and alcohol too, but the sweetness ruins a lot Berge (5), Australia does not count | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 11, 2007 Pours very dark brown almost black with small off white head that lasts not quite long enough. Smells of sweet malt and a little spice and alcohol to me. Full body thats is smooth. Sweetness is definitely there as is the strong malt character which is not over powered by the alcohol (although it is strong). Very enjoyable and would be a great winter warmer.
